Good on you

Have you kept an eye on missing pet websites, I only ask because it isn't uncommon for cats to go wandering if they've been moved and I'd be distraught not knowing what had happened to mine.

Yes - and taken him to a vets to get him scanned for a chip? And if no chip - health check, worming and so on...

Some council websites have a bit where you can post lost/found ads for animals. I would try that before keeping him yourself. When we moved house, our eldest cat went missing. After a couple of months, we gave up hope. Some kind soul had started feeding him and gained his trust enough to grab him and take him to the vets. His microchip was out of date so we could not be traced. The person who found him posted in a few pet forums and on the council website like I mentioned. I was casually checking it one day when I saw his picture. 7 months from the day he vanished and we have him back He was skinny and dirty (still had his old collar on too) so looked neglected. He was just lost. He must have been involved in an accident at some point as he has a limp - turns out his hip got broken and healed wonky. He is fine now though.

Basically, don't rule out that his owners aren't still missing him. Keeping him should only be an option after you've tried everything.

Been a bit busy, forgot to update little kitty is fitting in well with his new home, he gets on rather well with my dog and other cat, I've called him Patch because of his markings (not very imaginative I know lol) I'll be taking him to the vet to get weighed again next week, hopefully he has gained a little bit!

I kept going around the houses near where he used to hang about and it's almost 100% certain that the owners moved not too long ago and left him behind. A couple of the kids down there had taken to feeding him because he was always waiting around peoples houses.

Thought I'd update Patch is doing really well, he has gained some weight, still a little more to go but he's doing well he doesn't like going out in the garden on his own which is quite understandable, but he's alright with going out if someone is out with him.

Awww hes is a cute kitty, so glad you have given him a loving home, i just dont understand how some people can leave their pets behind when them move, mine are such a big part of the family, i was distraught whem one of mine was missing

IVe been feeding a little black cat that site at my patio doors and cries and cries, he scoffs the food down so fast the poor thing, hes now just started coming to me for a fuss but is still very cautious and he tries to get in the house, surprisingly my 3 cats have all taken to him and dont go beserk when they seem him at the door.

Aww bless you and little kitty!!

When I lived back in London one of my friends mums/neighbour had a whole tribe of strays she would feed three times every single day, in the back garden they had a deck with a canopy above it made from that plastic corrugated stuff and all around the edge of the deck there were various boxes and crates she had turned into beds for the cats so they could stay dry and warm. If a cat ever missed a feed she would worry so much that something had happened to it. Lovey woman!!

We've got his identical twin---well he visits us almost every day. He's affectionate & very friendly when he wants to be,although he has bitten me twice but we've forgiven each other.

Well he's adorable all right and good for you for taking him under your wing, but if he doesn't want to go out maybe you should just let him be in an indoor cat? There are far too many cats that get run over or worse these days.
