I have a friend with a Samsung DVDCAM VP-DX200, using a Sony DVD-RW 80mm disc, who has had a problem during finalising of the disc. During that process, approx halfway through, a warning triangle appeared with the message 'Disc erro'. The disc will now no longer play on the camcorder or be recognised by any other player.

I assume as it is a -RW, the disc can be reformatted and re-used, but is there anyway of retrieving the footage from it first? This was used in a six week holiday in Australia, it would be a huge shame to loseit. Any ideas anyone? Would a 'play anything' Panasonic DVD-Rec recognise the disc perhaps?

Can you load the disc into a PC DVD drive and use Windows Explorer to read the files on it ?
