Cereal Bar

Bottom line is I don't eat breakfast, is there a cereal bar out there that isn't packed full of sugar i look online and there seems to be no one finding out which is the least harmful, surprising, i would have thought there would be more information. Anyone know? it doesn't have to taste good, or am I better off carrying around a box of cereal?

I've become a fan of those new fangled breakfast biscuits you can buy these days. I think the best are the kellogs all bran ones, they seem fairly healthy.

Acutally looking at them now they see to have 9g of sugar in each one, which does seem quite high for a 40g biscuit. May have to rethink that one

I have been meaning to make my own breakfast bars actually there are loads of recipes on line and they don't seem that difficult at all.

All cereal bars are fully of sugar, especially the low fat ones. Your idea is the best - find a healthy cereal and carry some around with you.

Why not just have a banana - slow release energy, comes in a biodegradable wrapper and tastes good.

thats what i thought too but then it tasted too nice more like a buiscuit, put in a search on the internet and this:

also i have tried the fruit thing and im sick of bananas, I already have a fruit as part of lunch. Oh and the carrying cereal thing, i don't work in a office its an outside job, so i would have to eat it dry and like a packet of crisps.

I like then too but that article did put me off a bit. If I have them ( and I only buy then when on offer) I try and make them last all morning

I always make these breakfast bars. Its the same as eating a bowl of porridge.
Ingredients
For the Bars
45g polyunsaturated margarine
1 tablespoon soft brown sugar
1 medium egg, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
180g porridge oats
120g skimmed milk powder
1 teaspoon baking powder
284ml skimmed milk
240g raisins

Method
Preheat oven to 180°C/350°F/Gas Mark 4.
Grease a 9”x7” (23 x 17 cm) or 8” (20 cm) square baking tin with a little of the margarine. Alternatively, line with baking parchment.
Cream the margarine and sugar together – add the egg and vanilla essence.
Mix together the oats, milk powder and baking powder. Add to creamed mixture followed by the milk and raisins.
Pour into the tin and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
Turn out and cut into 8 pieces.
Can be wrapped in foil and frozen.
