TV stuck in bizarre search mode since retuning channels.
Sharp Aquos LC - 37AD5E
I recently retuned my channels as per the digital switchover. Only a few days ago, I might add..a little late. I recently had to order a replacement remote for my specific model of tv as I had lost the original one, and the replacement all-in-one type remote did not have the button that enabled me to retune the freeview channels. The problem is after I had initially lost my channels because I did not retune before the cutoff date, my TV has now gone into a repetetive 'search' mode every two minutes or so. It switched to the old analogue tv channel, and then proceeds to cycle through all of the external inputs, such as DTV, video, dvd, PS3 etc. It is not actually searching for channels, so I am very confused as to why it is doing this. And it happens also when I watch TV, movies, use the PS3 etc...after approx 2 minutes, it interrupts whatever I am watching, and initially switches to the old analogue tv channel, and then cycles through all of the other inputs. I have gone through all of the possible menu's, set up and reset options, reset the tv, unplugged, pressed every damn button possible...still keeps on doing it. |

I had this on my Sharp telly. You need to go in to the menu and disable the demo mode in the options list.
Hope this will solve your problem. |

Wow...well first of all many thanks G!
But have to say I am supremely embarassed it was that easy...when this first started happening I must have gone through every permutation of button pushing, and I am sure I had tried switching the demo on and off but at the time it did not seem to make any difference. So now finally, I have all my channels back and my TV is working normally. |

Glad to have been able to help you Ted.My telly was in the demo mode straight out of the box . Took me a lot of reading through the manual to find how to switch it off. Thought I would have to repack and take it back to shop at the time.
