Eating dried bay leaves - uncooked?

Hi everyone,

Hope you can help, I'm making a jerk pork recipe tomorrow that calls for fresh bay leaves to be blended in a salsa mix for dressing afterwards.

I cannot find fresh bay leaves in any of the supermarkets so was wondering if I can use dried and would they be ok blended up with the rest of the ingredients and eaten 'raw'. I know most recipes call for you to take the bay leaves out before serving.

I must invest in a bay tree!

thanks everyone

Perfectly safe, I'd say.

Nip down to your local garden centre and nab a few leaves.

Bay trees seem to love my garden, I constantly have dig up roots and sprouting bushes.

I do use them a lot in cooking though.
