VHS machine won't play
ok , I'm trying to get this VHS machine working , it looks in pretty good order , but basically what happens is -
the guide pins unspool the tape and wrap it round the video drum head etc. but when they push the tape against the erase head the pin just lets go and the tape comes away from the erase head again . This seems to be whats stopping it playing , it then gives up and says "err" on the display . but I can't figure out why . I know its a long shot without being able to see it etc. but maybe someone can help ... |

Buy another one from cash converters or ebay.

You don't mention which machine it is or how old, but unless it's a decent one (Panasonic or JVC) it won't even be worth considering a repair on - even then it's highly marginal. The prices for VHS decks have dropped through the floor - and you can't buy a new one now. Best bet is e-Bay or similar for a good second hand one - stick to Panasonic or JVC and you won't go far wrong. |
