Are You Waiting for the Galaxy S3?

There is a lot of hype about the next Galaxy. No wonder as the S2 has been a huge success and so has the Note.

The S3 (or whatever they decide to call it) looks like becoming the smartphone class leader with a quad core 1.4GHz processor and the latest version of Android on-board.

It will doubless launch at a premium price and will come down in time when Apple launch their iPhone 5 but it looks a hot prospect for anyone with £500 to spend on a smartphone or who is coming to the end of a £30+ a month contract deal who wants to upgrade.

For Galaxy S owners the new phone must be a hot option, perhaps not so hot for Galaxy S2 owners as it is already being upgraded to the latest Android version.

So who is lined up to place an order?

Are You Waiting for the Galaxy S3? - Short answer.. Yes!! It's the only thing stopping me buying a One X (Apart from it's bettery issues etc).

I reckon i'll get a S3 if its good!

I-m a galaxy S2 owner with 19 months left of contract so will buy it for the full £500

I shall wait and see what it looks like and how much it costs before deciding.

The only hardware they could possibly differentiate on is camera. Its pointless having a faster processor than the One X, pointless having a higher resolution screen than the One X.

Im not a fan of touchwiz, hopefully they've made significant improvements there

I normally prefer HTC Sense over Touchwiz but if the S3 has a removable battery and microSD slot I will probably go for the S3 over the HTC One X.

It will be interesting to see what technology it supports. If it has LTE 850/2600 on-board it would be the smartphone of choice for my next upgrade.

I'll wait to see if any battery issues, I've a feeling these quadcore phones are gonna kill battery life, I hope this none removal battery and no micro SD slot isn't becoming the norm, also 4'7 is to big for me.

I can understand wanting 2600MHz but why would you want 850 when that is a U.S. standard? In the UK, we will be getting it on 800MHz instead. Also it's funny you are looking forward to LTE since you are the one always arguing that people don't need (and are silly for wanting) faster speeds on their handsets, saying the T-Mobile cap is plenty of speed for anyone.

Given LTE is a ways off yet, I'm looking forward to there being more DC-HSPA handsets out there apart from the Lumia 900.

Well my contract is coming to an end in the next couple of months, technically I can upgrade now, but I'll wait til the Unpacking event on the 3rd before I make my mind up.

From what I've seen, I'm not too sold on the shape yet, but I've had absolutely no problems with either the Galaxy S or the S2... so will probably upgrade as soon as its released

Be interesting to see what price point its set at. One key reason its done so well is because its been a fair bit cheaper than the Iphone - will the S2's success mean though that Samsung try and price the S3 at a more premium level?

I am waiting for it to be shown off. There is nothing wrong with my S2, but I've just go to have the latest gadget...

For all you folk who dislike TouchWiz, download "Apex Launcher". It's free on Google Play and it is brilliant. It gets rid of 99% of the TouchWiz interface and replaces it with a highly customisable Android 4.0 experience.

As someone who has rooted and installed custom ROMs on every previous Android device I've owned plus numerous others for friends and family, usually with a view to have a device as close to AOSP as possible. However one week in with my new Galaxy Note I must say I am pleasantly surprised by Touch Wiz. It almost feels wrong saying that. Please don't tell them over at XDA!

I am too waiting for the S3 and the unveiling of it on the 3rd, but what time frame would we be looking at it being on sale in the U.K to purchase?

My contract is up next month :/

I was going to get the S3 straight away but the mess that has been the ICS upgrade for the S2 has left me a bit scarred.

I think I'll wait and see what the iphone 5 offers and make my decision then.

So does anyone have an idea of the time frame from unveiling the phone to it being available in shops?

The S3 has also stopped me purchasing the OneX. Although the non-removable battery has got me a bit worried. I root and flash roms on my phone. I have on numerous occasions had to pull the battery..that will not be possible with the OneX.

I read somewhere recently, that the battery issue with the OneX had been 'sorted' via an update, which is encouraging.
