I'm after a basic tablet for browsing the net and downloading email etc, nothing too extreme and I also don't need anything too flashy.

Would something like this be OK?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/NEW-7-ANDROID-2-3-TABLET-PC-NETBOOK-WiFi-TOUCHSCREEN-APAD-EPAD-4GB-1000Mhz-/200749419620?pt=UK_iPad_Tablets_eReaders&hash=item2ebd990c64#ht_7758wt_922

Thanks in advance.

Stop the late night shopping, lol

It has a resistive screen which might leave you disappointed as they are not as accurate or responsive as a capacitive screen.

What is your budget ?

Nothing much decent for £60 really, you will pretty much end up something slow and laggy. You need to if possible push for a hundred quid atlest. What you save in cash you will pay for in bad performance and many unsavory issues.

I would recommend saving for something a bit better as well. There are some decent 7" tablets around the £90 to £100 and 10" for around £120.

It's got a slow processor, a processor that's not compatible with many apps, low amount of RAM, low amount of internal storage, average resolution screen, poor resistive screen, 2.3 version of Android and no particular brand - not too much going for it really! LOL

If you only have £60 for a Tablet then IMHO you might as well not bother....now if you can get up to £80 you could get one with a capacitve screen, 512MB RAM and Android 4 which would be a much better prodpect...if you wanted a higher res screen you are looking at around £110-120.

I can tell you now I have been down this road. With a tablet at this price, you will be tearing your hair out within days, if not hours.

With tablets, it is well worth the frustrating wait of saving the pennies I'm afraid and getting something decent.

Waste of money - do not buy. If you can't afford £100 for a tablet then don't buy one.

There is a large choice now at £80 or less if you know what to look for.

The Archos Arnova 7 G2 is now good value at that price.

Not brilliant although an unusually high resolution on a cheap tablet - does not say if it's a resistive or capacitive screen though - probably resistive at the price and very low RAM.

Save up a bit and get something more like this:

On these tablets Android 2.3 operating system is possibly preferred with those having ICS also having less apps that will run, including Flash.

However when they say 1Ghz and nothing else it means it uses an older ARM CPU(and sometimes not ARM) and not the fast Cortex A8.
More importantly it often as not means the GPU is older and with low app compatibility.

Best avoided.

You can get Flash on ICS, Adobe updated Player 11.1 in December to support it:

Although I'd be careful on anything where they make up specs - it claims to have a Cortex A10 CPU.

There is no such thing (yet) as a Cortex A10. The cortex is currently either in A8 or A9 form.

That CPU does exist, though is in fact a A8 core. It does feature hardware video acceleration though.

Didn’t notice that – it’s the A8, but confusingly it’s made by All-Winner and called the A10.

I’ve got that tablet myself and found it very good.

Probably would not recommend that particular seller as they are sending it from China so you may get import duties.

I recentl bought a teclast p76ti and that's decent enough. The only problem I'vehad with it was finding screen protectors that were the right size. Had to get bigger ones in the end and trim them down

But it's decent enough for the £90 odd I paid for it
