Am I the only one enjoying the series?

I am loving this series, as I have every series since it started. My favourite candidate so far is Nick, I love his quiet manner and the way he can get his point across without being agressive. I also love that he looks like he has stepped out of a boy band, it shows that he is comfortable with himself and does not feel the need to conform to the hard nosed businessman stereotype. He is my winner by a mile.

I am enjoying the series now but it took longer than usual to learn all the names of the contestants. There have been quite a few tasks about food and they bore me slightly.
Last night's episode was the best so far in my opinion. Adam and Jenna were the stars but the badback mop sketch was really funny to see. Also that old dear chatting up Stephen.

It seems like he's already decided on his picks, which has skewed the results, and now the show is simply about the candidates looking inept or unlikeable.

Those who get the most camera-time are there simply to boost the ratings, while the actual contenders are hardly shown. It's like they know what gets people talking and are now exploiting it.
I think your post best explains the firings in this series so far, especially Azhar's firing last night.

The nebulous grounds for Azhar's firing (which IMO really meant "you don't fit here"), remind me of Ellie's (double) firing in Series 7.
But at least in Ellie's case, Vincent who was a hopeless PM like Jade, was also fired while in this series, Jade escapes to be the new female buffoon/Adam to get people talking.

I haven't really enjoyed the show much since Series 5, that was the last really good series i think. Series 6 was terribly boring and this series is as well. 7 was a little better but not much. I guess i've gotten a bit bored of it now, hearing the same old stuff from the candidates year after year, the same tired old cliches each time they are explaining to Sugar why they think he shouldn't fire them. tbh i think he is a bit bored of it now himself.

I think most people posting still enjoy it as bit - however we feel that its starting to display alarming flaws, some of which pjw has touched on and to those of us that love the show it would be sad to see it nosedive beyond redemption.

Personally I can see signs of some of the same problems which turned Big Brother from hugely enjoyable appointment television into an embarrassing disaster area, of interest mainly to the die-hards who would watch a testcard with the words "Big Brother" on it. Such things as the tasks becoming stale and repetitive and the hand of the production team beginning to appear more obviously manipulative, were among the early signs that Big Brother was jumping the shark. I really don't want this to happen to the Apprentice.

I'm enjoying it and the only thing spoiling it for me is the negativity around here. (not this thread btw).

Same here

One of the things I prefer about this season is that there has been, so far, relatively little backstabbing, abuse or people being overly aggressive and most of those who are still in the process have shown some quality at one point or another. I know all the dramas, and candidates behaving like tw*ts in general is exactly what some (a majority?) find entertaining about the show, but personally, that's the very thing that drove me away after a while during most seasons (although I still enjoy re-watching is the Marrakech ep of season 4, because it was just so bad all around it just became downright funny)

I don't know of course how much of that is down to the editing and how much is down to the personalities on the show, but it suits me better

I'm enjoying it. Perhaps not as much as other years because the contestants aren't as OTT as in some other years (The Brand) but I look forward to each episode nonetheless. Sugar makes terrible choices and there are terrible injustices in the boardroom in every series, this year has been no worse than others for that.

Injustice is a curious part of the show. Obviously there is a huge number of hours coverage not shown and hence the inevitable shaping to create a story. I do not think TA is quite as bad as some similar series in the past but as no one sees the coverage, who knows !! Got to keep feeding the compelling nature of the programme !!

I have preferred the lack of a dominating character. There are a couple of people of whom we have seen little in recent weeks... As for the beef stew, that would have been all right

Yes I think the editing has always been strange. Sometimes it shows us conversations or mistakes, for example Azhar giving Jade advice on her strategy, but then in the boardroom when it's brought up it appears that nobody tells Sugar "actually we have footage of Azhar advising Jade, he DIDN'T just moan unconstructively". So when Azhar is picked on for that I'm scratching my head and wondering what on earth the editors are doing.

I found it took me several weeks to learn everyone's name this series, partly because few of them really stand out as being outlandish characters but mostly because of the editing again - some weeks there were contestants who only got a few seconds of background screen time.

I know they have an awful lot to squeeze into an hour but the there should be continuity. If they choose to show something during the task it shouldn't contradict what we see in the boardroom.

I think there haven't been any stand out female contestants this year, and I sensed Lord Sugar was disappointed as well in the first few weeks.

I don't get to post my positivity though as I end up catching up on Sunday nights so the topical stuff is already a few days old by then.
My money would be on Tom & Nick , they seem to be getting a good edit. I always think the series are edited to ensure the apprentice/partner has never been seen to be a complete kn*b or make a terrible call. Despite LAS's catchphrase of last year, I do believe that generally he does usually pick a "steady-Eddie".
Steven & Adam I feel are being built up as entertainment value to be shot down in the interviews ...

... which, incidentally, would suit me just fine

I'm enjoying the series on the whole, but I think the editing has got in the way of things a tiny bit for me this series. Tom's edit is so over the top positive, and I don't doubt he'd be a front runner anyway, but editing in bits from other boardrooms just to make him look better kind of makes me a bit suspicious. Other people who seem like they could be frontrunners either have their achievements brushed over and are given fairly-low key edits (Nick, Gabrielle) or went far too early (Katie, Duane) in favour of focusing on the 'villains' like Adam or Stephen, who aren't even in the league of the Katie Hopkins or Michael Sophocles of past series.

I feel like if they just played the events as they happened and didn't try to construct these characters it'd be a far more exciting series.
