madonna less raunchy
if she decided she wanted to tone down her act because of her advancing years could you ever see her dressing more soberly on stage and just standing their running through her back caterlog no raunchy antics?

I would love to see more songs she has rarely or never performed live. When you see the likes of Holiday and Like a virgin performed so many times over 30 years, you want a change. |

if she got a proper band that she rehearsed with and cut out the dancing and visuals and just performed her songs it would be far more entertaining. the superbowl display was one of the most pitiful things in ages it's the same with michael jackson, his talent was just wasted as he never did a solo tour in his life without miming. so much for such a popular singer kylie pulled it off recently with her anti-tour, also doing b sides and rarities instead of hits. no need to even go so far, but dig further back into the catalogue and play the old hits and some rarities in the original style rather than try and "electro-fy" everything with the same VST plugin sounds |

Madonna is all about dancing and performance. She will tell you herself she is a dancer above anything and just fell into singing and got lucky. When she can perform and dance better than any of the current generation of popstars then why should she change? It's what her fans want

Before I say this I want to point out I am a huge fan.
Saying that I think Madonna has actually alienated alot of her fans in recent years. She really matured both her look and style from Something To Remember onwards and picked up new fans following Ray Of Light and Music. American Life was a dodgy era for her but the material was solid no matter what anyone says. Confessions was also a great era but since Hard Candy her image has been all over the place. All the progress she made into the second stage of her career went out of the window and I really believe Girl Gone Wild is a song she would have detested 10 years ago. I don't know why she decided to go down this path but I really want to see mature Madonna return. You think back to Live Aid at Hyde Park 2005. She owned that crowd. Despite all the artists who took to that stage it was all about Madonna. No one else. Sadly I don't think Madonna would be able to get the crowd that excited if she was to repeat that gig tomorrow.. both her and the management need to sit down and have a serious conversation about what she wants the latter half of her legacy to be. I think its a serious issue despite all the number 1 slots MDNA has taken. |

RE the Greatest Hits ('Celebration') Tour, I get the impression that Madonna doesn't like performing Like a Virgin these days.

She kinda did. The Reinvention Tour. I believe she performed only 5 songs from American Life and the set list is full of her greatest hits.

I don't think toning it down necessarily means she has to dress 'soberly'. Look at the way she dressed during the Ray of Light/Music/American Life periods Quote:

I think she lost something with Hard Candy. I'm not sure what it was. As an artist, suddenly she was doing the following, rather than being followed. |

I think her current more fun lighthearted sound is a reflection of where she is in her life now, being single again. Her music reflects her feelings and she can't just change to being more serious just because that's what her fans want. It has to be organic because that's what she's into at the time. Ray of LIght came out of her discovering Kaballah and having a child, not her thinking oh, I have to be serious now, so people will like me more. But overall I think MDNA shows both sides, the fun loving side and the more serious deeper artistic side, which is why it's one of my favourite records by her. |

What i love about MDNA is that it shwos off all these different areas of her as an artist...sure she has that sexual side to things but it is tasteful rather than in your face smut....but she has never done "smut" tbh like Riri and Katy Perry etc really do show off in a more unpleasant kinda way.
But Madonna is very much an all rounder...people see her shows because she is a top notch artist still and an all round performer...she can dance elaborate routines, put on phenomenal visual displays, belt out some tunes and incorporate her new sonvs with her hits and cook up several surprises here and there. I simply never want Madonna to do a "hits tour" for a long while yet...especially as she is alays creating and developing herself and showing off different sides to her...MDNA is a landmark to show off she is back and ready to show off new areas and take new turns on her journey tbh. I reckon within the next 10 - 15 years she may suddenly get reflective and maybe perform her hits solely as a purpose...but by then i feel she may have said all she wants and would have needed to say. But until then...Madonna will keep the wheel turining...i look forward to the next surprise tbh. |

I don't think I would want an all hits tour even if she toured without a new album. I would want to hear some hits but also some album tracks that have rarely or never been performed. I think that Greatest Hits tours are more for artists that have been out of spotlight or haven't been working such as old bands that broke up and are doing a reunion tour. They have to do their hits to remind people about them. I don't think a Greatest Hits tour makes as much sense for someone like Madonna who has been pretty consistently in the spotlight.
I mean while MDNA isnt one of her masterpeice/defining landmark albums in a sense...it is a great album of solid and fantastic material she can how off in live performances definitely. So if she continues with these style albums most definitely. |

There is some truth to that, but I also remember especially during the American Life period, a lot of people were complaining that she was taking herself too seriously, being too preachy and wondering what happened to fun loving 80's Madonna. Madonna's fans are very diverse and so whatever she does there is going to be a certain group who want her to do the opposite or go back to what she did before.
But one thing you have to understand being a Madonna fan, is she changes her outlook, style and sound a lot so you kind of have to just go along for the ride. Love Spent, Masterpiece, Falling Free & I'm A Sinner could have all been on her Music album. So she certainly still has it within her. She just needs to find her image again imho. I don't think she knows who or what she should be at the moment. We have had three upbeat albums in a row. That followed three serious albums in a row so who knows, maybe mature Madonna might make a comeback for album 13. ![]() I'd rather she just focused on being herself rather than what she thinks she needs to be. Its very sad to see her following trends rather than having her lead them. It just feels so wrong. Or maybe I am being too greedy in wanting another Ray Of Light or American Life. |

when she can perform and dance better than any of the current generation then why should she change? but the fact is she isn't, so why shouldn't she change? the superbowl was a perfect example of why she needs to move on. it was ****ing awful |

i couldn't understand why people were raving about the performance after watching it on tv. they obviously saw and experienced it very differently from in the flesh. she's just not suited to playing those type of gigs, at least not with her current act, and i can't really imagine her pulling it off no matter what she does to change |

I think Madonna was foolish for caving in after American Life. Though I am pleased Confessions came. It has however made her lose vision and focus imho. Its this what has alienated many of her fans.

Now as a Dance album it is very current and grows on repeated listens, as a Pop album it very much i feel is ahead of trend amongst the current crop of popstarlets. In erms of her back catalogue sure it aint one of her masterpieces nor has it set a trend....but i do believe it is a great album overall in the sense that it doesnt need to "set standards" it is on trend and is ahead of the game as well as on the right track too. Now come ehr next album i think definitely with the demons she has slain recording MDNA she will be asserted with herself again. Heck this tour will be a showcase of who and what she is definitely. Madonna brings the house down

Where exactly were you and all these other luke warmers then? at the back!!!
