Imagine working out of the e.g. Inverness one. All day driving over the mountains! Just like Postman Pat.

It must be more of a bastard in the inner-cities, though. Blocks of flats, yobs, broken lifts, can't park etc. I was meaning more the rural, semi-rural or suburban areas, where it is houses you can easily park outside etc.

Just got my delivery, and 9 items are missing, FGS made the driver stand there while we went through them. He kept blaming the depot but considering two items were a huge bag of potatoes, and a nine pack of toilet rolls they would be very hard to bloody miss.
Then l had to ring their customer services to organise my refund, for them to mess that up, and under refund me by 50p

God knows why l used them again, and now l never will.

I wonder who picks the items and puts the items into the crates?

I doubt it's the driver.

I would imagine they are just given a load of crates and a wad of delivery notes.

Life is short, and time is your most precious resource. It is literally priceless! Every minute that goes by is a minute less you have to live; you can't get it back. I don't want to waste those minutes on things like shopping, when someone can deliver if to me for a fiver.
Well said, plus of course you are helping someone keep a job.

When our daughter bought her house recently dad's debit card and online shopping with Argos and Ikea and the job was pretty much done. Couple of hours online and all the major furniture and appliances were ordered and quickly delivered. We had a few deliveries from Argos and the chaps were always polite and wearing a smile.

Country gone to pot when people can't be bothered to do their own shopping

I can understand if someone is disabled and find it difficult to get out or maybe live out of town, but some people lives on the supermarket door step.

the worse thing that ever happened was this online grocery shopping, apart from self scan.

Consider people who have no cars, carrying lots of bags on the bus is extremely difficult and takes up space for other passengers, using a taxi actually costs more than getting the items delivered and you haven't had to go around the store.

Why could the driver not organise the refund on their handheld gadget if he was still there while you checked the whole shop?

You imagine right. Not sure if they were expected to magically produce a bag of potatoes and a pack of toilet rolls out of their fundament which is why there is not much point making them wait while checking if everything is there.

I know someone who works as a driver at tesco, he's a bit thick bless him. He trod dog crap all over a customers carpets. Tesco had to replace her with new carpets! I've never had tesco deliver my shopping, I've got a sainsbury's and tesco quite near.
