Changing Default Input on Wharfedale TV
Not sure if anyone can help with this, but here goes.
My sister-in-law has a Wharfedale TV connected to a Sky+HD box by HDMI. (Sorry, no idea what model, but it is about 2 years old) She also has a DVD player connected by scart to the tv. The problem she has is that when the tv is switched on, it goes straight to the scart input rather than the HDMI input. I have looked in the menu, but I can't find a way of configuring the HDMI input as the default setting. I have switched the scart from input 1 to 2 and changed the HDMI between inputs 1,2 and 3 but it makes no difference. If I disconnect the DVD scart, the tv goes straight to the HDMI input I always thought that the tv would remember the last used input, but it doesn't. Any ideas? |

Is the DVD player switched on when you turn on the TV or switched on at the same time the TV is ?

With the SCART unplugged does it stay on the HDMI imput or on its internal tuner? What if the SCART is plugged in but the DVD player is powered off (not just put in standby)?
If so this indicates it does remember the last used input but that the DVD player is forcing it to auto-switch. One way of stopping this is to pull or cut Pin 8 on the SCART lead. |

Temporary solution: only connect up the DVD Player when it's needed?

If you don't want to cut Pin 8 then fit a manual SCART switch box placed next to the DVD. Press the switch for the DVD player when you go over there to put the DVD in and press another switch when you take the DVD out.
If you are worried about damaged a good SCART lead then try the Pin 8 solution on any old cheap SCART lead (maybe the one that came bundled with the DVD player or one from Poundland). |

Thanks Gomezz, pin 8 pulled and everything works as expected now. DVD is in standby, but the tv goes to HDMI input when switched on. Switch DVD on and tv switches to scart input. Switch DVD off and it reverts to HDMI input.

Another tip: Label the SCART lead with the pulled pin 8 so that if and when you need to re-cable your kit you know that is the one to use for the DVD player without having to peer closely at the end of the plug - although I know many set ups are now SCART-free zones I still have some SCART spaghetti behind my TV. |

Thanks for that. My own set-up doesn't have any scarts at all, everything is HDMI.
As it happens, it is a black scart cable, and the only other one they use is silver (for a WII) |
