Oh don't think for a second that it was in any way your fault. You did what was best for her, took her to the vet because you knew she was poorly and the vet did what they thought was best for her at the time. Thats all you can do and it was the right thing to take her. You did nothing wrong. You loved her and wanted to help her. If you hadn't taken her, and the same thing happened you would be kicking yourself for not taking her. Your heartbroken right now and seeking answers but sometimes there isn't any. Its just the way it is. It was her time to go. You did nothing wrong.

Flakecake is 100% correct. Whatever you did or didn't do didn't contribute to her passing. Hindsight is a great thing sometimes but you did your best for her and got her medical attention when she needed it. That was definately the right thing to do.

My old cat lost a lot of weight rapidly so I took her to the vet. She died in my arms as they were taking blood. Looks like she had an extremely over active thyroid. Now I could have not taken her and let her die at home, or taken her and tried to get her treated. I blamed myself (should have just kept her at home) but really she needed to see a vet so thats what I did. Has taken me a long time to get over it, but I now see that what I did was right. Didn't make it easy at the time though.

RIP Puss. Hope you're enjoying chasing mice/birdies/flies where ever you are.

Im so sorry for your loss. Pets become a huge part of the family and when we lose them it truly devestates us. I lost my beautiful baby girl last October, she was 16/17yrs old. Time will heal you and though it may seem awful now, eventually you will smile and remember cherished memories you have of your kitty. Dont blame yourself hun, sadly nature took its course and there was simply no saving the poor cat.

Keep strong xx

Awww bless her. Fuss over your dog and pay him loads of attention. Other pets in the household notice it too if another pet suddenly dissapears and they may act different. Just like us, your dog will soon understand that your poor kitty isn't coming back and she will adapt to life without her. Just let nature take its course.

When my Suschi was pts last year, i had 2 other cats. But one of them was ever so close with Suschi. Shelly and Suschi were always within eachothers sight, they slept together and played loads with eachother and when Suschi went Shelly kept sniffing round her bowl and places they sat together. Today Shelly is great and she has adapted to life without her best mate.

Dont worry, your dog will be fine.

Others have put it more eloquently than me, especially FCUK. I have been in a similar situation and it was those thoughts that kept me going.

So sorry to hear that CM, we lost our beloved dog to kidney failure at the end of January, when we took him to the vets she said she could put him on steroids but it would only buy him a day or so.

Our other 2 dogs and cat where looking around the house for him for about 2 weeks,

Just remember the lovely times you had with her for all those years.
