I've sussed it now because there are a lot of genuine friendships and relationships on the show but I get what they're doing.
Danielle when she came in said something like her and Lockie were the only solid relationship in Essex and they were talking of moving in together recently and I assumed from that, he was in a relationship with her for ages & they brought her into the show as that's what they do sometimes with partners (like Lydia with Arg, Rami with Gemma and Mario with Lucy)
But if she was hired then it's obvious, they hire these people throw them all together a bit like when people go on holiday in groups, there's drinks, parties & just encourage them to get off with each other. And they're just up for it, so do. That plus the promise of some screen time and celebrity status makes them go for it.
So Danielle and Lockie probably did date and she probably is genuinely upset but I reckon it's more to do with being embarrassed on TV & feeling stupid for getting caught up in the Towie fantasy World rather than 'he was was the one'.
The only real couple who have lasted are Ricky and Jess & it's believable that two people who were working together fell for each other, it happens a lot in life. The producers got lucky there but then they love each other and it's boring. Anyone else is in and out with the other cast members, so when the shagging isn't happening, they cast some new ones & repeat the process.
I'm done with the pretense all these people are real couples or even real friends. It's like being back at school watching it with people off with someone else every week. They need more 'real' relationships because scenes like Ricky and the Wrights fighting are actually entertaining because they are real.
