Because actually the Gemma/Charlie/Bobbie saga - is he/isn't he - is a winning topic for the producers of TOWIE. From what we've seen in the past Gemma isn't shy when it comes to making her point and she makes good TV. The debate about Charlie's sexuality is clearly very popular. That's why they keep re-visiting it. Would Bobbie really ask Gemma's opinion already knowing her views, that it will be shown on TV and Charlie will see it? So why does 'poor Charlie' stay on TOWIE?

We all know TOWIE is just a piece of enjoyable contrived nonsense but we still like to discuss the 'issues'.

And just to stir the mix - IMHO Charlie is so far in the closet, he's living in Narnia with Mr Tumnus!!

Gemma was truly vile last night.

I think the whole "insinuating you was all touchy feely" was simply an attempt to "split" Charlie and Bobby up, because she can't accept he doesn't want her, but will happily be friends with Bobby. If she's been rejected, she has to ruin everything for him, friendships, future relationships, the lot. Last we heard Bobby talk about Marbs was when he told Gemma how jealous he was of some girl Charlie was with. On camera i can understand if he doesn't want to come out, how he would hide things, but he doesn't have to go so far off camera too.

He stays on towie for his own personal reasons but the fact is he's been seen by the public and I reckon at first he put up with it but now it's getting to the point were he's clearly getting angry about it. It's alright for Gemma sat there mouthing off, she clearly doesn't care that much about her image or how she comes across as she's built up a fanbase (not to mention a career with her magazines and stuff) Charlie hasn't given a fair chance to do this and he deserves to as much as anyone else in the show.

After all it's about all sorts of people, it isn't the Gemma show and Charlie should be given a chance to have his own plots and if they don't work, then they'll just axe him, they got loads of people lined up to replace him I'm sure and actually I wouldn't be surprised if he does leave of his own accord soon but I can deffo see why he's trying to clear up this confusion while he's still on TV.

You can't blame Gemma for having made something of her time on the show. I expect lots of the TOWIE crowd have fans and developed their own businesses on the back of the show.

He's clearly been cast in a role. The whole Gemma/Charlie romance was probably set up by TOWIE. I can't see those 2 getting together without the TOWIE influence.

Gemma most definately gives much better in arguments than she gets. But it's usually Charlie who goes in there all guns blazing and starts an argument with Gemma and the cameras always just happen to be rolling......

Apart from the few times he's tried to hang out with the lads, his storyline is always centred around the gay issue and Gemma and Bobbie. It's clearly one of those things that has been set up. It's just a question of how many more times they can get away with the same old argument. Maybe, they need to develop this storyline.

Perhaps when TOWIE ends and the cast are not longer under contract, some might do a kiss and tell and we might find out some of what really happened on the programme.

Yes he's part of the storyline but you can clearly see he doesn't want to be part of it anymore. The thing he says he wants is to try new things and to find a girlfriend and none of that is getting picked up on which I imagine he'd be OK with as long as it wasn't being overshadowed by this gay nonsense.

Like with Gemma her storyline with Mick was something she was allowed to let go off and Charlie should be too, no one cares how a character was brought into the show...I just think personally if I were in his shoes I'd be getting so pissed off with this too, all he did last night was try as hard as possible to tell Gemma he wasn't gonna take her shit anymore.

Christ, if the guy was really gay it would have come out by now by people he knows or in some way but there's nothing at all and while he may not be Mark Wright and he's a little sensitive, he's definitely no Bobby or Harry in terms of sensitiveness or feminineness which is apparently what most people who watch this think being gay is.

Bobby & Harry - gay how do you know most people who watch TOWIE think they are what being gay is? Not every gay person is feminine - apparently!

Like everyone else on the show, he doing what he is told to do. The show is set-up. Bobbie didn't have to tell Gemma on camera how he feels etc. And Charlie didn't have to approach Gemma in public with the cameras rolling. TOWIE know how Gemma will react and that it makes 'good' TV. IMO they are playing 'big, bad nasty' Gemma & 'poor' Charlie just for the viewers.

Unless you know the man personally, then you have no idea how he feels. Don't forget the show is set-up. None of this would be happening if these people were left to their own devices.

How can joey expect anyone to take him seriously? At the club he was desperately trying to look 'hard' in front of Jamie and instead looked like an immature boy by calling him a 'lunch box'. Is he a bit simple?

As for Gemma, every episode she stoops to a new low. Why did she have to antagonise charlie by repeatedly referring to bobby as his boyfriend? I would also add that this fauxmance with Arg is doing her no favours as she seems to be fatter than ever.

It just seems very strange that she's apparently with Arg but has so much time to still be bitter about her ex not finding her sexually attractive. She's made a name for herself on the show by shoving her oar in, rudely and awkwardly.

She may have made friends now but remember at first she was the car saleswoman and awkward "teacher/mentor" for Amy and Harry. Then she got lumbered with the twins. Now she's got Arg she's got a bit of a place on the show but before that it was just kind of like "sad lonely Gemma", even Lauren Goodger used to laugh at her expense. you'd think she'd treat people with a bit more respect but it seems now she's got attention, she's desperate to cling on to it regardless of how it affects others.

I don't think Gemma would have got lumbered with the twins, got with Charlie or had her crush on Mick without TOWIE influence. Although I can see her liking Mick. The whole programme is set-up by the TOWIE producers. They have been on to a winner with the Charlie/Gemma/Bobbie fall outs. That's why I have to agree with your last sentence. If it gets an audience reaction, she'll do the same scene over and over. And for that matter so will Charlie & Bobbie and everyone else on TOWIE. TOWIE is set-up and scenes are manipulated.

Well, you must know you've hit a low point when even Lauren is laughing at you, she's been the joke of TOWIE since episode one when she stood up and screamed C*** across a nightclub at Mark.

It's obviously a lot set up, but with the Gemma/Mick thing, it started with Kirk buying his car from her and the general chat was Mick needed someone in his life, so they made out it would be Gemma and she got all obsessed and played the part, then the twins were introduced, nothing for them to do really so Gemma got paired up with them, but with Charlie it was more like she actually met him separate to TOWIE and brought him on board, much like Mario and Lucy and to an extent, Arg and Lydia. Charlie wasn't in the show then got with Gemma, he was with Gemma then got into the show, and now she feels mugged off that she got him a part in a TV show, but he wasn't even that in to her. So now she's out to destroy his reputation because she isn't happy.

The scenarios, the pairing with Bobby etc was obviously all set up, but to me it seems like Charlie wanted on the show once he got with Gemma (no idea if getting with Gemma was purely so he could get on the show, seems likely) and now he's on it he's not happy with the path that producers are taking his storyline. He's never actually shown any interest in anyone but girls, yet just by befriending Bobby and Gemma talking crap, they've turned him into a closet case.

I agree with this completely. Even if it was Gemma who got him on the show it's not different to a lot of characters who came into it via their friends or relations like Diags, Billie, Debbie, Little Chris etc

I can't remember how he came into the show though, I remember there was a date, not sure if TOWIE brought him in separately or Gemma actually met him off her own accord. Anyway they were hopeless from the get go & she'd been nothing but rude about him not liking her from the off, in fact when she was with him she was taking the piss out of him all the time. I just watched the video were he was dancing and he was having FUN, enjoying himself and the whole crowd cheered him on and she just sat there going 'it's embarrassing' yet everyone in the club loved it, the only person who wasn't was her! Her problem.

Thanks for the back story. Don't think I saw that one with Lauren shouting at Mark. I probably started watching sometime in the second series. Although I have seen Lauren swearing and shouting a few other times. I remember Lauren and Sam having a shout & swear match in public. TBH a lot of the chats in TOWIE have ended in a lot of shouting etc. It's all a bit Jeremy Kyle but in Essex!

Gemma also got another boyfriend off screen. So I think TOWIE does engineer these 'relationships'. Bobbie & Charlie joined TOWIE at the same time. Coincidence? I don't think so. This was manipulated and engineered by the TOWIE people for a storyline.

They were introduced entirely seperately though, Bobby through Lydia and Charlie after a few mentions by Gemma in the preceding weeks, I don't think TOWIE engineered Charlie and Gemma together, but they have engineered the gay storyline.

I wouldn't say their joining was a coincidence, after season 2 started off quite shaky with a raft of newbies, the show has generally introduced characters towards the end of the series, so we vaguely recognise them the following series. There are a few who just drop in during episode one, particularly when there are known departures, I think Little Chris was introduced around the same time as Bobby and Charlie, the time of intro doesn't really mean anything.
