Starters to have with chicken stew
I am cooking dinner on Sunday for a couple of family members. I have decided to do a Rachel Allen chicken stew recipe but can't decide what sort of starter would go best with this. The stew is quite a 'light' stew - any ideas of what would go well with this? I would like something as simple (and cheap!) as possible.

A light summer soup with braised little gem lettuce - shredded, peas, stock of choice ( I use vegetable) a few shallots finely chopped- boil then simmer until peas are cooked, cool slightly, blitz and add about a tablespoon of double cream - sprinkle with chopped parsley or mint if preffered ( or a mix of both). You could make this in advance & keep in fridge btw.serve with bread of choice.
