Would have been perfect. But perhaps the silly shorts burst his bubble.

Tonight has been one of the funniest on the thread. Thankyou to all of you xx

I think he's getting rid of who he doesn't want to work with. He's written Azhal off as negative. What they have on offer may decide it or it may just produce a list that excludes say half of them.

He's seen something in Jade and Gabrielle and he's interested in - he's kept them when there was a good case to lose them. Laura is attracting comments - not sure if he wants her to to either stay or go. I think Jenna, Tom, Adam and Nick look good to him to?

An art task again might suggest an interest in Gabi and Jade - he has tested artistic ability before this series. Jade's project sounds too ambitious though - but so did Susan's.

I remember that episodes. The guys should be thanking their lucky stars they won that week and they totally tried to sell Azhar down the river before it was announced they won.

I noticed he was also drinking orange juice.

Just finished watching this episode and it's late so I'll sum it up with this one line:

If I ever hear the word 'strategy' again it will be too soon. Even on the taxi home it was mentioned TWICE! I'm going against the masses and thought it was a good firing decision this week.

I'm confused by these BS tasks,,,,,,,,,,Sugar said buy stock and see what sells and restock the suff that sold,,,,,,,how is it that jades team allthough deservedly lost only lost by a little,,,,,,surely all the stock left over that didnt sell which was about £400 worth was bad stock it didnt sell and yet it was counted as assets.
In normal life yes,,,,but that wasnt the brief sugar gave,,,,surely it should have been about what they sold and the figures counted at the end should have reflected this not adding on left over stock?,,,,,,Jade's team would have still lost but the figures reflected in the brief that was stipulated by lord sugar.
I think he should have fired both of them in the end

The left-over stock wasn't bad stock - counting it as assets was fine. The brief Sugar gave was a real-life one for once, with a simple message - treat the task as if the business was a going concern, rather than an exercise in one-day rip-offs (every other task). It's a far better - and fairer - way to judge a task than mere sales or profit. If Jade had understood the task rules, she would have realised that the aim was not to sell lots of volume - it was to maximise value. And by slashing the tan spray price so far, she created little added value. Nick's team understood this.

Either way, the right team won. But as you say, I was also surprised (and a little disappointed) that the margin wasn't greater. Jade walked out of that boardroom relieved, very lucky, and with no real idea just how badly she'd managed the task.

The key to the task was that both teams started with the same amount of money - £150 - and counting how much cash + assets that had grown into at the end one day is a good way of measuring which team was achieving the best margins on its buying and selling. So even if you had some unsold stock at the end of the day, you've bought that with proceeds of earlier sales so should it be included in the net worth as in normal life you would still be able to sell it the next day, so it is still of value to your company.

But because the teams started with the same amount of money, it was still the team that sold more of its reinvested stock at the best margins i.e. fake tan, that won. If the task had not taken asset value into account - just profit over expenditure - that may have been perceived as a disincentive to reinvest - not a good long-term, er, strategy.

Exactly. And the whole principle of asset valuation - in particular future worth - is one of the ways companies are valued in the real world. 'Valuation' is far more important than 'sales' or even 'profit'. If that wasn't the case, Twitter would be worth about 50p, whereas it's valued at a *little* bit more than that ...

Its a real tribute to the selling abilities of the winning team that they shifted all the tan they could get their hands on at £10, whereas the other team had tan left when selling at just £3.50. Maybe it was like the old Stella advert said "reassuringly expensive"
