EE - Jay

How good is Jay!! The writing for him has been brilliant. His scenes with Abi are especially great.

I agree. This Heather storyline has really brought the best out in Jay. I would love to see his character be based outside of the Mitchells in the near future.

He does shine particularly brightly next to the bug-eyed monster

Completely agree! And I love them together. I hope they find a way of keeping them together after the conclusion of Heather's murder storyline.

that made me chuckle .....

I always feel sorry for the kid that plays Ben. they made him cut his hair like it is to look like the old Ben then have close ups of him that make him look so ....well .. I hope they are paying him loads of dosh as he is earning it.

He's been very impressive. I think everyone in that story has done very well, but he's especially shone.

I think he's who the audience are rooting for in this storyline, as we're seeing it all from his perspective kind of. Even though he was involved in the murder cover up we see how contrite he is and how he's being manipulated by Phil and Ben. It's interesting because although, as an audience member, you want Ben to be caught, you don't want Jay to be. However, if Ben does get caught there is no way he's not going to bring Jay down with him.

As I've said in another thread, I can see a solution to this - the police have evidence to suspect either Phil, Ben or Jay and bring Jay in for questioning. They then offer Jay a lesser charge/reduced sentence in return for his co-operation and information.

This does happen sometimes - if Jay would be charged with anything I think it might be perverting the course of justice, whereas I think Phil would be charged with assisting an offender on top of that.

Yeah hoping this does happen and that Jay gets off lightly in the end of the story.

Before that though, if Ben gets caught, I think he'll definitely try and drop Jay in it and switch their positions to make out he was the more innocent party.

I'm really enoying this storyline cause I really don't know how it's going to turn out and which one of them will crack first!

Yeh he has, it's been brilliant. Also, Jamie is brilliant at crying - I always think that shows how good an actor someone is.

I've always rated Jay (or rather the actor who plays him). I remember way back when his dad died and he acted superbly. He is a good character, has quite a lot of moral strength too.

Good character and good actor.
Don't know if many people noticed but the scene where he visited Abi at the home last week when Cora was a bit ill, they had a hug in the hallway and the hug was so awkward it was both adorable and totally realistic coz that's totally how teenage boys hug girls. I thought that was a nice touch.

I hope they don't split them up and they stay together through the ups & downs, you always get a soap teenage romance that goes the distance, perhaps they are the future Kevin & sal from corrie or Ricky & Bianca

Agree!

Ive spent the past 2 years moaning about how he never appears, and how he has potential to be the best teen, blah blah, and now its actually happening, and he's definitely not letting the side down!

Hes absolutely brilliant, a really natural actor, I love his scenes with Abi and their relationship has a really down to earth, genuine quality to it.

I hope he continues to get big storylines because he can pull it off!

He's very good. It's always great when actors join the soap young and then develop into good characters without drastic recasts like Ben, or are kept on for years without a purpose because they don't want decent actors to go to waste. (like Darren Miller)

I like Jay but I have a feeling that Jay will end up being completely framed by Phil and Ben, and Jay will go down for murder while the other two get off scott free.

Normally I'd agree, but iirc Josh Pascoe is doing his AS levels atm and if that's right then I think it's been said that he wanted to focus on them.

What would be brilliant is if Ben did what Aaron did in ED - ie manage to do a runner/escape from prison somehow. Leaves the door open for the character whilst not dropping Jay or Phil in it either.

I'm good thanks, hope you are.

Yeh and I love how he's being so lovely to Abi.

Yeh and hopefully that will shine through when Shirley eventually finds out.

i dont think phil would do that. they had that chance straight after heather died as ben kept jay's hoodie. phil was really angry. i think if he was to do that now it would kind of ruin phil and jay's closeness over the past month or so. i think phil genuinely cares about jay and likes him (that scene in the car a few weeks back phil confided in him) and wouldn't want to loose him because he is sort of family.

Jamie is the best teen actor in EE IMO, but the character is underused. He has potential to be part of major storyline- On Heather's murder night it was him that came out the best.
