Recording/live pause issues after swapping a Sky+ box for HD box

My mum recently bought an HD TV, but the picture looks rubbish on her Sky+ box, so last night I set her up with my old spare Samsung HD+ box which had been sat in our cupboard for ages.

She only pays Sky for the recording/live pause functionality of the box, so channel-wise she only gets the free-to-air channels.

When I connected up the HD box, I was able to watch all the FTA channels fine (SD and HD), but on the HD channels I couldn't get live pause or recording to work. It would just say 'recording interrupted' or something like that.

I presume this issue is due to the fact that her viewing card is only paired with her existing Sky+ box. Is there a way to get around this without her having to pay the £10/month sub to Sky?

thanks

So does she or doesn't she pay Sky for the recording function? If she does, phone them up and get them to pair the card....she won't have to pay anything more.

TBH I don't know what she actually pays Sky currently, I just know that she only has the FTA channels, but can record/live pause with her existing Sky+ box.

The reference to the £10/month sub in my previous post was if she had to sign up to the Sky HD package in order for the recording functions to work with the HD box I've given her. But if it's just a case of calling Sky to get her card paired with the new box then that sounds easy enough.

thanks

Recording is part of Sky+ functionality - and has nothing to do with subscribing to the HD Pack.

Subscribing to the HD package allows you to receive subscription HD channels - and has nothing to do with recording or pausing and rewinding live TV.
