Wall mounting bracket
We have a 28" Toshiba flat screen TV, which has been happy sitting on the bedroom cabinet, but now my wife thinks it would be better fitted to the wall in the lounge, replacing the current 'old style TV'
What sort of bracket do I need ? A joiner friend will fit it for me, but obviously I must get the bracket and the fixings first. Another problem, where should i put the digi box and the Home cinema control, both of which are currently sitting in the TV stand. Would i need to have them on a side cabinet and get extra long cables. Should these be put in the wall, ie in a chase. thanks ! ps My wife thinks this is just a 10 minute job but I see quite a few problems, let alone cost implications. |

My 36" panel is mounted on a regular TV bracket for that size of TV. On mine I just had to drill two large bolt holes into the wall and fit rawplugs, then bolt a frame for the TV half of the bracket to hook on to.
You need a brick wall (not a flimsy partition) and know how to remove the existing TV base. The brackets usually specify the size of TV they support and a maximum weight. There's only a few standard VESA dimensions of the fitting on the back of the TV. Mine is similar to this one, but you'd need one for a smaller panel. http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...rlrefer=search |

Get the type of bracket that has a wide rectangular part that screws to the wall, and has two strips that fix to the tv and hook onto the wall part.
These are a LOT easier to fix giving more available fixing holes. they CAN be fixed to partition walls if that's what you have, just make sure you get 2 or 3 good fixings into the timber studs. Partition walls are great for flat screen tv's, it's so easy to hide all the wires in the wall cavity. |
