Does this mean that effectively I'll have to sign up to Sky to get ANYTHING AT ALL?!

I can see them rebranding it to Sky Store so it can be offered via IPTV then it'll prob be turned into or merged with their new IPTV service, Now TV.

So the effects of that would be... I HAVE to pay Sky somewhere about £50 a month on top of everything else for ANY kind of decent streamed catalogue?

Well, Acetrax is only movie rentals at the moment, they could keep it the same but I doubt so knowing Sky.

Sky has said it will keep the Acetrax brand name and in the UK it might appeal to customers who don't like Sky. Acetrax operates in Europe not just the UK. In Italy and Germany the Sky brand name is used by Sky Italia and Sky Germany who are not part of BSkyB so I doubt Sky UK can use the Sky brand name in these countries.

I understand that it prob wont be rebranded as 'Sky' because of the other EU markets Acetrax is available but they could still rebrand it as Now TV as it looks like they purchased Acetrax to complement Now TV plus they have stated that Acetrax will offer sport etc at some point.

"The service will initially offer access to our movie content but will soon expand to include sport and entertainment, with customers able to pay monthly or on a simple pay-as-you-go-basis"

So, I can see it being rebranded as part of Now TV but not Sky.

Acetrax has contracts in place with device manufacturers Samsung, LG, Panasonic, Toshiba, Grundig, Asus, Acer, Lenovo, Netgear and D-Link giving Sky a good start on connected devices.
