It wasn't part of my strat-eg-y today. Ops.. I mean... Oh damn!

Strategy is a key part of business. However, last night I think a tactic was used that we see increasingly, of setting someone up to be fired. By asking about strategy: if you win, you pointed out the key factor, if you lose with strategy, you pointed out the omission, if you lose no strategy, you pointed out the key omission. Jade made bad mistakes but she was honest about her tactics. Saying strategy once is ok but the repetition without offering substantial solutions revealed a story,

I slipped it into my account review at the bank and my account manager started laughing and said you watch the apprentice

I blurted it across a room half full off project managers, half with programme managers - they groaned. And then they started going on about management strategies and how the PMs in Apprentice are more like Team Managers and team members working at delivery level rather than much real project management.
