Where is that Bridge cafe?
Where they always show the losing team ending up. Is it the same cafe they've used since Apprentice started. I suppose it must be good advertising for them if they make a nice cup of tea

Round the corner from my house! It's in West Acton, near Park Royal, an next to the studios where the boardroom is filmed.

Whaaaaat?!! You mean the boardroom isn't in the City? But they show all those overhead shots of Canary Wharf etc? Do you mean they are having us on?
![]() Another 'trick' is the boardroom is Park Royal, but when then they're fired the taxi leaves from Viglen headquarters near Hanger Lane. |

Whilst the Boardroom is filmed in the studios in Park Royal, Viglen HQ is in St Albans not Park Royal, & another trick the Taxi ride is filmed at the beginning of the series, at the same time as the scene in which they are shown entering the headquarters building at the start of the first episode.

So the taxi ride must be filmed at a different time, yet their reactions when they have to do a piece to camera in the taxi looks like it is just after they've been fired. I mean Jane was wiping away a tear as if she'd just come from the boardroom.

I frequently go past this year's house too - in fact I used to walk to and from work when I had a job in Soho and my journey took me right outside every day. |

I think Laura's one was an advanced one though. |

But last week or the week before the candiadate specifically mentioned why they where fired for so is it always the case the taxi ride is filmed in advance?
I think Laura's one was an advanced one though. I think he means the external shots are filmed in advance - i.e the walk from the building to the cab and the aerial shots. |

Post number 6 and other posts I've read over the series indicate the whole ride is filmed in advance though I don't know why because they have to do each episodes filming generally and they are not live, so why not do the taxi ride as and when they are fired?

There's quite a few little tricks they use for narrative purposes.
There's no one actually calling on the phone when the candidates get the call at the house at the start of each task. The phone doesn't even ring at all! The ringing and the caller's voice is dubbed on around the candidates' often creaky acting. Notice how many of them simply hang up without saying goodbye. There's nothing inside the suitcases they're always wheeling around. That's a pretty obvious one. Most of the talking heads pieces with Nick and Karen during the tasks are filmed separately at the editing stage. "Hey we need a talkie bit here to illuminate/explain/foreshadow things!" "Okay, get Nick and/or Karen and start work on the script!" All they do is consult continuity photos and make sure Nick and Karen are wearing what they were wearing on the day(s) of the task, and that any new blemishes (cold sores, zits etc.) are covered up. They'll rarely film these bits at the original task location, so they'll use somewhere that looks vaguely similar. A blurred brick wall will do for most tasks. Much of the supporting footage with the people the candidates meet is specially staged as well. E.g. in last night's episode, the part where Tom's corporate guests were seen morosely traipsing out of the art exhibition was a pretty glaring example of this. Of course it's great fun for the incidental shopkeepers and dancers and street buskers etc. that the candidates are always running into. They're always willing to cooperate. In short, The Apprentice is one of the most superbly edited pieces of TV you could ever wish to see. If they're not already teaching it on media courses, they should be. |

I don't understand how they could be though. Surely they can't film the internal shots in advance, where the losing candidate comments on their firing? How would they know they were going to be fired? Am I misunderstanding something?
My view is why not do the after firing scenes in the taxi and let them be scepciifc about their feelings? If its too hard for whatever reason they can get them to give their initial feelings after they have been fired and are outside the boardroom etc. Its always been a bit cliche they get into a taxi, I mean do they really have all their clothes in just that 1 smallish suit case? I wouldn't be surprised if they get to go back to the house and get the rest of their clothes. |

Also, those tricks were interesting! I'd love to know more. I always thought the board room was in the gherkin at the top as that's whats shown right before the inside of the building theyre in. On weds I was actually sat wondering if Alan sugar bought the place, rents it, wondering how much would the rent be etc...! |

Im guessing they don't want traumatised contestants on camera?

I remember Saeed once was on Radio 5 ands he was really slating Sugar and the tricks generally. He mentioned what I knew that Sugars Amstrad Head Office was at the time in Brentwood Essex and in Saeed's words, the place was falling apart and then he mentioned I'm pretty sure that that was the reason why the boardroom was a studio. As for questioning the firfed cnadidate, they can easily allow them to compose themselves if they are upset before asking them questions but I don't think we learn much more anyway in the taxi from what they said in the boardroom. |

The taxi rides are filmed after the actual for-real firing. Laura this week mentioned getting fired for her lack of sales ability.

The lease was running out on the building and Anstrad knew they had to leave so probably had no interest in keeping the decor up. It's actually a Premier Inn now. |

The actual scenes inside the taxi at the end are not filmed in advance, how could they be? Some contestants are quite specific in those interviews (Zoe last year mentioned that she should have gone to the factory for example) so unless they're psychic or the entire show is scripted, they can't be done in advance.
