Having nothing better to do today, I was looking at my itemised Orange bill online, and was a bit horrified to see that their text messaging service for news alerts was costing me 25p for each message! This seems to have happened sometime around mid-March (before that it was 10p, apparently). Obviously I've stopped the alerts now, as they were costing me about a tenner a month for not very much.

Did I miss being told about this, and does anyone know of a news alert service for iPhones that doesn't cost anything (or at least costs a lot less)?

Something like Twitter is completely free and works on all phones...
