Im thinking of buying my sister an Amazon Kindle for her birthday in the next few months and was wondering if they was as good as they are made out to be. I know there are other cheaper versions of E readers out there but I want to get her the Kindle. I have looked at the Kindle touch 3g.
Can you buy a charger plug for it so you can charge while you are away on holiday. Also do get screen protectors for the Kindle.
I dont have to buy right way I got till August befoe I buy.

Best of the e-Readers and although I wouldn't pay extra for the touch version, 3G is very handy.
Plenty of free books available from Amazon, Project Gutenberg and Feedbooks. Don't pay Amazon's silly prices for new books.
It comes with a mains/usb charger and you can buy ludicrously expensive cases for it but I don't know about screen protectors.
If you keep the wireless connection turned off unless you're actually using it, the battery will last for ages.
Surfing the net with Kindle is horrible but the (basic)mp3 player is good.

I will look into getting my sister one. I got about 8 or 9 weeks before I have buy so it will arrive in time for her birthday.

Bought one for the wife who said she'd never use it until she picked it up and I can't get a word from her now , a lovely bit of kit, worth buying a reading light if gonna be used before bedtime but like said before , lots of books available Amazon ok but plenty of other companys with good offers on for kindle books, battery lasts roughly 30 days on a single charge

An envelope makes a good screen protector.

I use Kindle more on Ipad as you can read in the dark.

It would make a great present. The battery does last for ages and it's easily charged from a PC or mains.

That's the point of eink display, it's like a sheet of paper and you create the contrast with an external lighting. Try reading anything off LCD screen in a direct sunlight. With eink the contrast just gets better. Also some people can't read for longer from computer screen, which a tablet screen is, because of eye strain, nothing like that with eink.

No need for 3G, just get the WiFi one - they don't allow new kindles to use the 3G for browsing, only for ebook delivery now. Also touch ain't great, just get the cheapest one that they do.
