The original Starsky & Hutch theme that was used for the pilot episode & in the early days; not the more famous & well known theme used later on.

Loved the Double Deckers, as I loved double decker buses, and going on the top deck of them, when I was little. I thought the idea of having your own bus and warehouse, to hang out in, was just so cool, and thought the theme tune was brilliant.
Ohh me too, I so wanted to be Tiger!

Ace of Wands
Tomorrow People
Follyfoot
Children of the Stones
Banana Splits
Cagney and lacey
Rentaghost
Scooby Doo
Journey to the Unknown
9 to 5

and from second childhood (ie what my kids watched ):

The Queen's Nose
Captain Zed
Arthur
Mona the Vampire

Knightmare?
Where am I? - You are in a room!

They should put Hugo Myatt (Treguard) in Emmerdale........ He could be Zak Dingle's brother)

What has happened to great theme tunes?

I can't think of any new programme in the last 5-8 years that offers a great theme tune I will remember in 20 years.

Not sure if they've come up but:

Diff'rent Strokes
The Littlest Hobo
Prisoner Cell Block H

would be my 3. Twin Peaks was good, Dallas and Dynasty quite powerful. Sons and Daughters was a nice one too.

Few sport ones too, Champions/Grand National, London Marathon and We Are The Champions with Ron Pickering.

Boon was another good suggestion but The Littlest Hobo would edge it for me, brilliant song

Two more too, the cartoon of D'artagnan and the 3 Musketeers and of Around the World in 80 days with Willie Fogg.

Also, give Scott ad Charlenes Wedding in Neighbours a mention as there won't ever be another thread to bring it up in.

Hong Kong phooey
Top cat
Help its the hair bear bunch
The CSI franchise
Morecambe & wise
The fall guy
The double deckers
Happy days
The high life
The love boat
Auf Wiedersehen pet 1& 2 (back with the boys again)
Whatever happened to the likely lads
Welcome back kotter
It ain't half hot mum
Only fools & horses
The Dukes of Hazzard
Different strokes
Inspector gadget
Dangermouse
Boon
White horses
The littlest hobo
Minder

TV theme songs & theme tunes are dying out because TV companies believe that viewers will take the chance to channel surf while the theme is on & find something else to watch.
It's strange how sometimes a TV theme song will be remembered much more fondly than the show itself ...
