Yeah, what an achievement - she must've worked so hard for it

Anyone with a brain could see that she was obviously going to be #1 this week - it's how the charts work”

Post of the weekend for me

People are taking this song too seriously

Isn't it basically saying: I've made mistakes because of my inexperience (or being young) but I'll learn from these mistakes.

But I'd say anyone who wants to perform their music in front of an audience is an attention-seeking fame whore. Otherwise they would sit at home singing to themselves. Then where would we be?

Thought she was rubbish on BGT though.

What an astounding coincidence that her sex video is leaked in time for her to release a generic, crap dance track about making mistakes and how she should be forgiven because she's only young, and is crowned sexiest woman in the world by FHM no doubt largely because of her appearance in a dodgy porn video.

PR exercise and the single-buying public have just lapped it all up. Boom - number 1. If people think this number 1 from Tulisa is due to her hard work, excellent artistry and dedication to making music, I'd say you're mistaken.

I don't understand. Do people actually like her music or is this some sort of inside joke? Are we all secretly laughing behind this bint's back? Nothing redeeming whatsoever about her. Bad music, bad style, bad personality...she makes me appreciate Cheryl Cole. Well, she doesn't. Kinda.

I don't think anyone is making out it's excellent artistry. It's a catchy pop song.

There's loads of examples of people using their music to mirror their personal lives - or using their personal circumstances to sell their record.

Tulisa has mentioned this tape nearly leaked a year ago. She's chosen a song that mirrors her circumstances. Whether or not the timing was deliberate people will debate either way. But the thing is - Tulisa has been in the papers none stop for the last year, she didn't really need the publicity

And I don't understand why people are suddenly bigging up Cheryl She may not have had a tape leaked, but every criticism aimed at Tulisa could be applied to her as well.

for goodness sake. what is it with these indulgent preachy posts about the state of the music industry?

maybe people just bought the song because they like it, perhaps it is as simple as that. its equally annoying that some people feel the need to moan about the state of the music industry every 5 minutes, like they feel the need to be part of something too.

Hear hear!. People seem to be buried so far up their backsides that they can't quite grasp the concept that different people like different styles of music.

It isn't indulgent at all. Clever marketing and exposure is at work with this number 1, whether you choose to agree or not.

its obviously not a classic, but some people are getting pathetically heated over this #1 and as per usual the moaners about the music business are out in force once again. i do think that people must like her song to be honest, that is surely the most logical explanation.

And GPK as well

Exactly, its like some people cant comprehend that some people prefer dance music to rock music. Almost like they think that the people were brainwashed into buying it.

It isn't about dance music vs rock music. Dance music is great. My only point has been that I don't see why she is to be congratulated, that's all.

Because getting to no1, and with impressive sales, is a good achievement and no you dont have to like the song (or congratulate it). Its just preachy posts saying how the music industry is in turmoil which is said constantly. (by others not yourself)

Fair enough. I don't see a problem with the industry, it's easy enough to find what you want. I just enjoy it when unexpected songs do well, not off the back of scandal.

I'm sure she's not too gutted since her album has hit #1.

It started off pretty bad but then i think she improved more as it went on and she was ok at the end imo.

yes but when the song is this poor with no input from the artist it is disheartening that it is somehow seen as a valid achievement that needs to be congratulated.

I think the song is okay tbh with a decent beat and its success is a valid reason to congratulate it. I do agree however that it is poor that she played no part in writing the song.

lots of artists are just singers, tulisa is not the first person to get to #1 without writing or producing it. i don't think the song is amazing, but its not that bad either. considering how well the singles did while she was part on n-dubz, this is an achievement for tulisa. if people want to celebrate that, then its not really a big deal.

No. People are quite entitled not to like this song. As I said on the other post, it's the preachy, self absorbed posts where people claim that their preferred genre of music is "quality" for no other apparent reason than it doesn't chart.

And they try to push their preferred genre of music as the only genre of music you should be listening to.

"Quality" music is everywhere. If you like pop, you'll find quality pop songs. If you like metal, rap, disco or himalayan whistle music, you'll find quality music.

Just because a person doesn't like a particular genre of music, it doesn't make it any less "quality" for the people who do.
