Yes indeed. Hodges tweet is obviously Jesuitical in its wording. Mentions 9pm without mentioning the 9pm hour. He really is a masterclass in spin, but does come unstuck ocassionally.

Surely since he was talking about Have I got News he was talking about its slot, why would he mention the whole hour.

What on earth does Jesuitical mean, never heard it before but I like it.

Just laying a marker but The Voice willhave a rating of 3.9m this evening, will return on monday to see if I can gloat if I was right or need my wrists slapped for being wrong.

I think it will have 4.5 million( just about 1m down on last week due to weather) From what I have seen in the other ratings, this seems to be around the figure that other shows are down this week. Also, there seems to be confusion over whether Cheryl Cole is on tonight or tomorrow night

TV will probably be a million down on last week but probably have in or around the same share as last week. I doubt anything will really go over 6 million today, from what i can gather today will be the peak of the hot weather

I wouldn't be surprised to see it hit 4/5/6 million.
We just don't know!

Don't see Eurovision hitting last years heights, so a bit down. But nothing to spend much time on discussing.

Recently I have seen 2.5m inc +1, there was a rating this week of 2m (ex+1). I have not seen Pointless ratings for a while, it must be very close between them.

The Voice rating will be so low that a rip in space-time will occur!

Out will pop the Cybermen, Daleks and that frog-faced thing (no, not Billie Piper) That froggy whatsit. The Earth will be threatened! Heroes must stand up! Tom Jones has hero form because of his famous battle against martians.

And in fact only The Doctor can put right The Voice. Because.. The Voice has laryngitis (sigh) and you know (tee hee), doctors heal sick voices.

I'll get me coat.

Last week (w/c 14th May) the ratings for The Chase were (inc +1):

Monday: 2.72m (19.63%)
Tuesday: 2.62m (19.53%)
Wednesday: 2.53m (20.03%)
Thursday: 2.61m (19.77%)
Friday: 2.60m (18.42%)

None of the weekday episodes of Pointless made the top 100, the only episode that did was Saturday's Pointless Celebrities which averaged 2.60m (19.15%).

The week before (w/c 7th May) The Chase had:

Monday: 2.68m (14.96%)
Tuesday: 2.63m (21.19%)
Wednesday: 2.90m (20.28%)
Thursday: 3.02m (21.44%)
Friday: 2.49m (19.61%)

Two episodes of Pointless made the top 100. Monday's with 2.66m (14.55%) and Wednesday's with 2.54m (16.91%). All the others were below 2.46m.

And in w/c 30th April The Chase had:

Monday: 2.76m (21.45%)
Tuesday: 2.97m (21.58%)
Wednesday: 2.65m (20.70%)
Thursday: 3.02m (22.04%)
Friday: 3.08m (21.96%)

Friday's Pointless had 2.49m (16.98%), with all other episods below 2.49m.
--------------------

It seems like The Chase has overtaken Pointless in recent weeks, although both are still doing well. Pointless has followed the normal pattern of a decline at this time of year as the evenings are lighter and the weather improves (its share is about the same as it was in the Winter) whereas The Chase has held firm with higher shares than it was getting in the Winter. Just a few months ago Pointless was consistently ahead but the roles appear to have reversed.

Overall, this series of Life Stories has averaged 4.4m, making it the best rating series since Autumn 2010 and its second highest rating series ever. It'll definitely be back on Fridays in the Autumn where it seems to work well.”

Tarby will appeal to the Coronation Street pensioner audience who are confined to the house cos they will remember when Tarby was a mainstay on ITV in the 70s and 80s when life was simplier and the working classes watched ITV en masse cos there was nothing else to do.

HIGNFY may have suffered a dent in part because there was no support from Not Going Out. I know in my household the end of NGO stopped me watching HIGNFY live for the first time this series. (Too complicated to explain the reasoning behing this). About to watch HIGNFY on the iPlayer where I notice it's currently a lowly 10th in the iPlayer chart. So maybe William Shatner as host put some people off.

But mostly it'll be the weather.

between this is the BBQ loving BBC viewers we are painting quite a picture of British TV viewers.

HIGNFY was awesome last nights, its a crime that its underrated and apparently under appreciated on iPlayer, however what we are not factoring in is any online Trek fans watching it less than legally online.

Yes it probably will be very low because of the early start again and mainly because of the hot sunny weather that always affects it massively

I think the real indicator of how the Voice is doing at this stage will be shown by how it does on recordings and iplayer, as it can't really be judged on tonights ratings

The raw figure won't be the thing to watch for The Voice tonight - it'll be the share. If it's able to hold up share wise on previous weeks then it won't be a disaster relatively speaking. The Voice is not strong enough at this stage to draw people in for the live show stage.

Have I Got News For You suffered with the heat last night but Piers Morgan held up well. As for Thursday; everything was hit across the board but Good News did very well at 10.30pm.

The good old days when honest working class folk always watched ITV because it was our channel and posh Southerners and people from Keswick watched the BBC. Not forgetting the bearded Guardian readers and their beloved Channel 4.

It won't be an easy summer for EastEnders, but it's a resilient show, and once the football, Wimbledon and Olympics are out of the way, and the improvements made behind the scenes begin to be noticed on screen, the show will bounce back.

I suspect Emmerdale will have the hardest summer of any of the soaps, and I think that will have a knock on effect on it for the rest of year and beyond. Every Emmerdale fan I know says it's worse than it ever has been (and let's face it, it's been very bad in the past!), so the disruption this summer will do it more damage than any other soap.
