Chelsea are not in the Europa league, Tottenham, Liverpool and Newcastle are. Because Chelsea won last weekend they remain in the Champions League
Sorry my football knowledge isn't that good, I thought only the top three clubs went into the CL. However, Liverpool could be a big ratings draw if they do well in the EL.
But a little more on topic, I think ITV1 have fixed Tuesdays now with football and repeats of well liked dramas. I think this makes more sense than cheap factual and poor rating reality like The Biggest Loser.

I might have to agree. Holly builds up to his comments and he starts off with a pause. Completely kills the flow.

They need a new sheet of paper for the live shows.
to be honest I would fire him just for spelling his name like that.

Would certainly introduce Lauren Laverne as host, she is rare mix of being hot, and someone whos respected musically.

Also yes the TV abbreviation is a bit annoying.

Another part of The Voice that will have to be altered-Holly asking each coach to pick between their acts-not surprising they all said dont know.

Now Cheryl is on with what looks like a gym class routine-just missed the start of the football.

Last week's breakdown of The Voice:
Code:
18:30	3.93
18:35	4.47
18:40	4.79
18:45	5.01
18:50	5.09
18:55	5.49
19:00	5.90
19:05	5.95
19:10	6.09
19:15	6.27
19:20	6.44
19:25	6.45
19:30	6.30
19:35	6.34
19:40	6.11
19:45	5.89
19:50	5.96
19:55	4.78
So did The Voice only go above 6 million because it was against football build-up?

Interesting breakdown, and I wouldn't be surprised to see another drop tonight. Here's how England have done in the build-up to other tournaments:

24/05/10 - 7.61m (33.6%)
* match average: 8.64m (37.1%)
30/05/10 - 3.30m (27.4%)
* match average: 3.4m (26.9%)

A high rating is not automatically guaranteed, I wouldn't be surprised to see the match rate in the high ~5m's/low 6m's myself.

Everything bar a course of leeches has been suggested as a way to cure The Voice of what ails it. Many of the suggestions are contradictory - be more like The X factor, be less like The X Factor. Reminds me of the debate on Daybreak

Theres been less buzz about this England team than any other before a major championship in my lifetime. No chance itll get 7.61million and it will be beaten by Eurovision. Eurovisions been terrible as usual so far, a rubbish entry from the UK with no chance of winning and Graham Norton trying so hard to be as funny as Terry Wogan but not as good as the great man himself.

That's only a problem** if the suggestions all came from the same person.

**for the person in question.

This is a strange comment to come from the one person in this thread who's still defending The Voice

Actually, that could be a great way to boost the ratings for The Voice live shows next year - get Graham Norton to do a pithy commentary.

I think that's a given, Eurovision is the type of show Twitter was designed for.

It's 9.20pm and only one ad break in Eurovision so far, lasting around 60 seconds - covered by interviewing the Hump. Why do commercial broadcasters agree to that? Especially those that only have one channel and must broadcast both semi-finals in primetime too. That's a lot of ad revenue to lose - and what to gain?

I'm sure they used to have more during the performances - is it possible some countries take breaks during the "postcards"?

I guess in countries like Sweden though where the selection process is a big deal they can rake in the cash during that and therefore afford to sacrifice the ads for the contest itself.

To answer my own question!... I can only assume its because to be in the EBU you need to be a public service broadcaster and so this, bizarrely, must count as a bit of public service broadcasting.

The football has finished one song before Jedward perform. The BBC will like that.

And some hold their own national finals which bring in revenue and offset the losses of the grand final week. But it explains why ITV haven't exactly been biting the BBC's hand off to air it.

Do we know what the European/Worldwide ratings are for Eurovision usually. They said 120m at the beginning of the show, which would be on a par with the Champions League final (anyone seen a European ratings for that yet?) and above the Superbowl - but we all know these events overstate how many people are watching.

I wonder what the ratings are in Azerbaijan. It's 2 o'clock in the morning over there right now.

69million people on average watched the Eurovision 2010 final: http://www.eurovision.tv/page/news?i...d_of_2007_2008

Dont believe the 120million stuff figures, it's exaggerated to make the contest look more popular than it actually is. The Champions League Final is still Europe's premiere event.
