But a little more on topic, I think ITV1 have fixed Tuesdays now with football and repeats of well liked dramas. I think this makes more sense than cheap factual and poor rating reality like The Biggest Loser.

24/05/10 - 7.61m (33.6%)
* match average: 8.64m (37.1%)
30/05/10 - 3.30m (27.4%)
* match average: 3.4m (26.9%)

A high rating is not automatically guaranteed, I wouldn't be surprised to see the match rate in the high ~5m's/low 6m's myself.

Everything bar a course of leeches has been suggested as a way to cure The Voice of what ails it. Many of the suggestions are contradictory - be more like The X factor, be less like The X Factor. Reminds me of the debate on Daybreak

Theres been less buzz about this England team than any other before a major championship in my lifetime. No chance itll get 7.61million and it will be beaten by Eurovision. Eurovisions been terrible as usual so far, a rubbish entry from the UK with no chance of winning and Graham Norton trying so hard to be as funny as Terry Wogan but not as good as the great man himself.

Zeebox has Eurovision trending far ahead of the Football.

I think that's a given, Eurovision is the type of show Twitter was designed for.

It's 9.20pm and only one ad break in Eurovision so far, lasting around 60 seconds - covered by interviewing the Hump. Why do commercial broadcasters agree to that? Especially those that only have one channel and must broadcast both semi-finals in primetime too. That's a lot of ad revenue to lose - and what to gain?

I'm sure they used to have more during the performances - is it possible some countries take breaks during the "postcards"?

I guess in countries like Sweden though where the selection process is a big deal they can rake in the cash during that and therefore afford to sacrifice the ads for the contest itself.

To answer my own question!... I can only assume its because to be in the EBU you need to be a public service broadcaster and so this, bizarrely, must count as a bit of public service broadcasting.

The football has finished one song before Jedward perform. The BBC will like that.

And some hold their own national finals which bring in revenue and offset the losses of the grand final week. But it explains why ITV haven't exactly been biting the BBC's hand off to air it.

Do we know what the European/Worldwide ratings are for Eurovision usually. They said 120m at the beginning of the show, which would be on a par with the Champions League final (anyone seen a European ratings for that yet?) and above the Superbowl - but we all know these events overstate how many people are watching.

I wonder what the ratings are in Azerbaijan. It's 2 o'clock in the morning over there right now.

Dont believe the 120million stuff figures, it's exaggerated to make the contest look more popular than it actually is. The Champions League Final is still Europe's premiere event.
