Unfortunately I don't think too many people realise that you can get Sky News on Freeview and probably stuck with the BBC thinking there was no other option.

The more I read this thread the more I realize most contributors haven't a clue.

It wasn't until about 5pm. Up to then it was advert free.

Coronation Street averaged 5.9m (exc +1).

Gary Barlow peaked at 7.8m at 20:35, whilst Corrie had 5.4m at that point.

Looks like Corrie didn't do too well, but did go up a decent bit when Gary Barlow's show ended.

Also, Michael Rosser says that All The Queen's Horses 'didn't get great ratings'.

Expect to see a guest appearance by Gary on Coronation St as himself....long lost love child of Ken.

Yikes for The Apprentice. I'd put the blame on the format change; the show makes no sense anymore.
Tennis on ITV1 hasn't worked either - best stick to ITV4.
ITV missed a good opportunity to capitalise on the god awful BBC coverage, instead the plaudits all go to Sky.

I would agree with that. ITV will be covering tomorrow's events (with Schofield & Etchingham) but it was a major tactical error by them not to cover the River Pageant yesterday, even with the reduced advertising breaks.

Next Sunday should be better for them, they have the French Open final followed by Spain v Italy (Euro 2012). Of course it will be even better for them if Murray is in the final.

I think the apprentice may just have another year left. It has become a little bit boring and unlike other shows you can't do much with the format to liven it up. However the final ratings weren't much lower than the voice final.

It was my first choice, not sure it will be for future Royal Occasions after that inane and embarassing desplay. Frankly I had no idea I could get the whole thing on Sky News on freeview until reading it on here.

The BBC had three years to plan this and they totally ballsed it up.

Poor for The Apprentice. They should knock some heads together and work out why such a rubbish bunch were chosen.

Given how awful the BBC coverage apparently was, this may be a case where the BBC might have been wishing for a lower figure. I wonder how much of a car crash element there was to the figures? Did they build as the weather worsened?
I really don't think some you appreciate how bad the weather was in London yesterday. I don't think I've ever seen a day like it in what is supposed to be summer.

Just out of interest, did BBC News simulcast BBC1 or carry on as usual? (I was in the crowd watching the big screen where there was continuous coverage of the flotilla - who did that coverage?)

K

edit: also, what was ITV1's all day share? A new all-time low?

While 10.3m would be good for a drama/gameshow/talent show, for a major royal thing it's actually very low.
You do realise that the it wasn't just shown on BBC. 10.3m watched with an 11m peek. It was on sky news. Plus the million that was in london add that to all the street partys and family get togethers and you will find more then 10.3m watched the coverage

That is a horrible rating for The Apprentice. I can't quite understand it.

BIg Brother housemates this year include a porn star, beauty queens, a playboy bunny and a former gangster. Sigh, I doubt ratings wil hold up to well as Channel 5 insist on this tackiness

Lord Sugar has said he'll probably only do two more series of The Apprentice. I think they'll finish it after that because ratings are down so much and it's better to end it on a decent level than to keep it going and going.

Maybe Alan Sugar should spend less time getting the arse with TV critics and more time reverting The Apprentice to its original format. Which at least made sense.
In my 'umble opinion.

Awful for The Apprentice, if there is no uplift for the final, they may as well air it on a Wednesday as normal.

They mentioned at the end that Young Junior Apprentice is back later in the year so the Apprentice format is in danger of being over exposed again.

They need to do something to stop next year's series from going lower, but the danger there is that they will keep in useless characters who make good TV, firing the better but boring candidates, which annoys viewers and throws the credibility into doubt.

Really good for the Diamond Jubilee coverage. According to the million different threads on this forum apparantly nobody was going to watch and everyone hated the monarchy!

The outcome for the BBC is the same as The Royal Wedding, cricism of the coverage but massive ratings so they don't care. I wonder if they will drop some bits from Tuesday's coverage on the back of this.

The new format basically makes the first 11 weeks of the show redundant.

Last night's rating (just talking about the main hour now) wasn't even a series high. It was also the lowest rating Appentice final ever to air on BBC1.

Just wondering, do people think Tuesday's Service of Thanksgiving will get more or less viewers than yesterdays pageant? Some people mightve thought yesterdays event was the big one and its possible fewer people will tune in for Tuesday's event, especially as its earlier in the day.

Maybe stick it back on BBC2?

I wouldn't go that far yet but they need to make a lot of changes next year (better candidates, ditch the new format, new tasks) or they're screwed.

Young Apprentice coming back in the Autumn won't help either, they could do with giving it a good break and running two series per year won't be doing any good for the format's lifespan.
