Bingo!! I thought that was correct, but don't like to hit BGT while it is down We can all agree that TV has lost 2m viewers recently, but some people cannot bring themselves to admit BGT is losing share and audience.

I think you've said that about everything on the BBC, including the Grand National and the Six Nations. But I don't see how you can do the selection process for Eurovision any different, unless you make it the prize for The X Factor.

It doesn't need anymore coverage concerning BGT, the BGT vs TVUK coverage has already helped establish the show. If it aired in say February next year, the press would still write loads of stories about The Voice and they'd probabaly be more about the content of the show too.

I am surprised to see these ratings drop, however maybe its because this part of the show is too similar to X-Factor. I also dont think people like the judges as much as they engage with them on X-Factor.

I think something like the main Eurovision show is suited to ads...isn't it currently about 3 hours or so, without a break? Far too much.

Will The Voice be able to hold up as well against Dancing on Ice if thats on Saturday though? Dancing on Ice is not that popular anymore but gets about 7million viewers, which is still enough to dent The Voice, if both start at a similar time, compared to All Star Family Fortunes and The Cube which its up against right now. If DOI Results are on at 8pm on Sundays, I'd prefer Voice to be shown at 7.30pm rather than 8.30pm. Dancing on Ice is the wildcard in all of this and the BBC's decision might hinge on DOI.

Much as I'd love to say "ha ha ha, BGT is slumping" I can't because 9m is still a very good figure in this day and age.

6.5m for The Voice is still a good figure in itself but it's part of a very steep decline, much steeper and much more noticeable than BGT's dip.

Its the World Snooker Championship Final today, BARB says last years final had 3.93million viewers. This years final has Ronnie O'Sullivan playing, the most popular snooker player of the last decade. It also has Michaela Tabb refereeing, by far the most popular referee around .

I have no interest in Will.i.am , and im thinking he isnt going down well with more traditional BBC viewers.

Will.i.am is one of the main problems. He isn't working on the live shows and is providing too many awkward moments. Don't think he will be back next year. I reckon they might add a second female judge in.

It appears many people have watched The Voice auditions but not the later live shows.

Surely there must be a risk that in series 2 these people may be less likely to watch the auditions?

If you know you are likely to lose interest after the auditions then isn't it more likely that you may simply not bother with the auditions?

Of course in series 1 when these same people watched the auditions they didn't know they wouldn't be interested in the live shows.

I think he works. Its just they maybe need Reggie to talk to some guests in the V room on the performance.

The coaches are too close to things.

Jessie is a bigger problem; her song choices were dreadful and for all her shouting about 'The Voice' she gave the best singer in the competition a stupid prop!

Fact is the 'coaching'/'judging' role does not work together.
It'd be like having the Strictly partner score their own celeb!

This is why people are saying they need to team it up with Doctor Who next year. I still don't think its an issue, the auditions are enjoyable by themselves.

Ok sorry about that but this the problem with him. When they can edit his comments so they flow better its fine but not live. I reckon he will be the first one to go when changes are made. Its strange to think Mary J Blige missed out on the job to him. She would have been so much better.

Maybe next year they will throw the big bucks and get Kylie afterall.


We also need to know the contestants better. We know very little about them and thats not good enough if viewers are to invest in their story.

Critics have a cheek to pan BGT and/or X Factor when there's a circus of a show being trotted out by Auntie.

Danny is interesting because he's the one nobody really knew and his appointment was eclipsed by the big name signings that make up the rest of the panel, and yet he turned out to be the best bit of casting they made. It's funny how it works out like that sometimes. The rest have been quite poor, especially will.i.am. Jessie J has also been disappointing. Watching her dish out half-hearted criticism the other night was painful. She doesn't seem to know what kind of judge she wants to be, and hasn't really made the mark I thought she would.

I think the panel looked good on paper but hasn't really delivered, and the banter between them is lacking. One of the things I read a lot is there isn't any humour about The Voice. These problems are very much secondary to the format issues though.

The Eurovision would be awful on a commercial station, they'd ruin it with breaks, premium rate competitions and a banal presenter like Phil Schofield. Also there'd be a tedious reality show to choose the British entrant. I say keep it on the BBC.

There was a report a couple weeks ago saying all four coaches on The Voice UK will return next year, each of them getting a 5% increase in wages. But after whats happened the last week or two, the BBC might want to make some changes. I like Danny a lot but will.i.am has not been good during the live shows.

The Voice will have to accept that increased competition from Britain's Got Talent and the football plus an early start due to Eurovision will hurt it in it's final weeks. The switch of EastEnders to 7.30pm could hurt Britain's Got Talent tonight and I expect the results show to take a massive hit as they're on too late for families with children.

I think, if anything, Britain's Got Talent has slightly more to worry about if the live shows continue the trend of shedding viewers. The Voice has clear faults which can be rectified next series but common consesus appears to be that Britain's Got Talent put on a good semi final last night so I'm not sure what can be changed - except maybe a larger emphasis on quality variety.

Did last year's final not have Judd Trump in it, which may account for the good viewing figures?

I don't know about you but I think The Voice and Britain's Got Talent will be axed after this series due to poor ratings.

But it's not hysteria. It you have to admit does not look good at all. This Saturday is at the moment looking hideous. 6.9m I reckon.
