TV Guide Sources: CBS Cancels CSI: Miami, Renews CSI: NY

Not 100% confirmed yet but encouragingly for CSI: NY fans like myself this is also being reported by Variety.

not to knock you Dancc but at this time of year, unless it comes from Deadline, I dont believe it.

Also the last Deadline article I read was speculating this, that speculation could be the source of this article.

That said it would suit me.

There you go! Miami is done. But nothing about CSI: NY in that one?

oh yeah getting ahead of myself, however lets face it, if they were going to axe both, both would be announced at the same time, but yeah no official news on CSI NY

Deadline also announces the axe of Unforgettable & A Gifted Man.

Speculation maybe, but if NY was axed, they would have mentioned it.

Also no word either way for "Rules of Engagement"

Pretty sure NY is safe now. That's 4 drama cancellations covering the four new dramas so ties in with no changes in drama hours next year.

Looks more or less official now. Great news. The Eye knows best.

Who knows, if they move NY to Sundays where Miami used to air it might actually see an increase in ratings next season.

It helped that NYC 22 bombed on debut, otherwise perhaps both CSI spinoffs would have gone.

I don't think this will happen after the disaster of the Premiership on ITV but I think as part of the rights deal the BBC are not allowed to show highlights before 10pm but I am not 100% sure about that
I agree, I think it's timed after 10 pm for men in pubs or returning from the pub. The Premiership was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The rights have chnged. You now have the time delayed Fottball First on SS2 from 8.30 to 10pm preventing terrestial highlights before that finishes. That didnt exist when ITV showed the premiership highlights at 7pm.
You all miss the key phrase in my post "on Sundays" there. I agree Saturdays is a non-starter now, especially with the 5.30pm kick-off, but Sundays is a different matter - and also with fewer games to edit (though actually that's probably not always the case) a 7pm slot on BBC2 shouldn't be too bad for MOTD2, especially on days when it's just 2 or 3 big games.

As for the main highlights on Saturdays as nobody other than the BBC seems to want them they're not going to go anywhere, and if ITV, C4 or C5 did snap them up they wouldn't go into primetime, though I suspect they'd all probably aim for a fixed 10pm start.

Dear old Sky, however, football fans have never had it so good. As a sport it holds almost no interest for me now- rugby league is more my thing- but I do expect ratings to be a healthy 4.8 million for MOTD tonight.

its certainly the choice I would have made.

Also whilst Channel 5 will miss CSI Miami, it will at least be able to ensure it gives the show a good send off.

Still a few shows we are waiting for official word on, CSI NY, Rules of Engagement and The Office, even if all 3 seem safe.

Today is a Saturday as far as premier league rights are concerned.

Also how many episdoe will CSI NY get next season, personally as im a fan of a round number, I would give it 20, and take it to 200 episodes.

Reading the original post, I think Brekkie's referring to a general scheduling change rather than having it at 7pm today.

Besides, I dread to think how low The Voice would sink if BBC Two had Match of the Day at 7pm tonight.

Go and look on TV By The Numbers. Page after page of Horatio fans.

Clearly NY is the better show. I do wonder though how they will end it for real when the time comes - last year they had Mac considering retirement, this year he nearly dies. What card do they have left to play for the actual finale?

Actually, tonight's rating for The Voice intrigues me. It has the bigger lead in but is opposite Emmerdale. It could be low ratings for both shows to be honest; Emmerdale is terribly scheduled.

um, if it wasnt for 9/11, I would suggest some form of terrorist attack.

It's already done that bit.

Why is the Dale being shown on a Sunday?

Because they didn't have an episode on Thursday at 8pm this week becaus of Britain's Got Talent, so they're making up for that.

I suspect they chose tonight to do that to give Vera a boost (and maybe dent The Voice).

Good thinking as their schedule could have been flat and the Dale will guarantee at least 5 million viewers. I think The Voice could fall further tonight.

They should've aired an hour of Emmerdale between 7pm and 8pm on Friday and moved Coronation Street's final episode of the week to tonight - surely Coronation Street would have held up better than Emmerdale?

Only question mark remaining now on CBS is whether Rules of Engagement will be back or not. Airs on E4 here in the UK.

Not too surprised about The Voice. It really does have the potential to be a great show though, and at least it'll have a chance next year to iron out problems and make changes to the live shows.

I think the problems that are putting viewers off:

- The coaches. I caught some of The Voice before Britain's Got Talent last night and there is such a difference between how the judges gel on BGT and how they interact on TV. The judges on BGT seem much more at ease with each other and I actually get the Walliams/Cowell humour. Maybe it's just me but I don't find Will.i.am funny in the slightest and most of the time, I don't even know what he's even going on about. Their comments to the contestants can be really lame too. We may moan that the comments on BGT and TXF can be a bit cliche and samey, but least they made sense. Will.i.am says nonsense that I don't understand and Jessie J makes random remarks like 'you know when you're driving in a car and you imagine yourself in a music video' wtf

- The performers performing every two weeks and the voting system. Getting each act to perform once every two weeks means the viewers have less chance of becoming attached to the contestants and caring about their fate on the show. The voting system also needs looking at. I think many viewers will find it unfair that an act must go from each team. There could be fairly average singers on one team, and all fantastic singers on another team but one of the fantastic singers would have to leave, leaving a guaranteed average singer in the final.
Im glad someone agrees with me on this
I have never been a fan of Will and seeing him on the Voice is putting me off more and more, I didn't mind him as much during the Blinds and i was actually starting to like him but he's just not that good with LIVE TV and doesn't seem to have the Voice in his heart.
I would get rid of Will and Jessie who is starting to become as big headed and Mrs Cole. The only Differance is Jessie can actually sing.

The Ratings could go up but i think they are just going to average around the 6/7m mark for the coming weeks but could see a good rating for the Final.

I think Next year the BEEB should have a little re think about what they are going todo and i would start The Voice in January right after the New year

I would keep the hosts because i quite like Reggie and always have since the Top Of The Pops Days and Holly seems to work quite well and imo hosts the Voice better than anything else she has done.

The way the acts sing everyother week does need looking at though.
