just watching the previews for all the new shows on the Fall schedule.

Revolution: it would really help if the promo didn't set out to remind you of some of the Heroes branding, will people will trust NBC to handle this well, is this to high concept for US TV?

Chicago Fire: does NBC not remember Rescue Me? not that Rescue Me was bad, simply that this show will end up being compared to, and the only thing in its favour is that Rescue Me is off air.

Go On: Matthew Perry has no history of post Friends success, and im not seeing anything in the preview to say otherwise, but its a short preview.

The New Normal: looks like a Modern Family rip off to me.

Guys With Kids: Looks unimpressive.

Animal Practice: Looks even more unimpressive

It would be a stunning scalp if Emmerdale was top outrate The Voice. I cant quite see it happening but it might be close.

ITV‏ @ITV
Due to story lines sensitive to today's news we have a change to our schedule this evening and Lewis is replacing Vera now on @ITV1

It was supposed to feature deaths at an army base in tonights episode of Vera. Possibly pulled due to the Afghan deaths?

I wonder why ITV didn't just show next week's episode of Vera tonight so it didn't have to be taken off?

Sadly soldiers shot dead could be seen as insensitive, especially as it is all over the news on ITV1.

Presumably very last minute as I'm sure they were still showing Vera trailers just before Emmerdale.

Obviously chaos in ITV control which was probably why they accidently showed an end credit promo slide for a few seconds across Emmerdale rather than across the credits.

That's what I thought. I assume it's down to continuity but isn't Vera self contained episodes?

Is it a new Lewis (brought forward from Wednesday) or a repeat? It'd be very sloppy if it was new, particularly as they've been advertising it like hell this week for Wednesday.

Maybe there's an ongoing storyline between the episodes which wouldn't have made sense if tonight's episode was skipped?

Thankyou. Not heard about this at all today but then i've not really been near a TV/Radio much of the day
Sounds shocking though

They might not have had the tape to hand for next week's episode.

It's a repeat from last year. Vera does have continuing back stories.

True, must be due to continuity reasons. I see they've gone with a Lewis repeat for now.

Talking of Lewis, it's already been renewed for next year, with production of the series starting in June. I think it'll be its last one though.

That'll explain it.

Although with Lewis being a repeat, I wonder why they didn't air a repeat of Vera instead? At least it'd still be the same show then.

Not sure what they should do with next week's episode either as if they air it then they'll have another gap in the series as Soccer Aid is the Sunday after that. It might be best to just run another repeat next week and run the two Vera's together over the Summer,

ITV1 share will be down then, It might give Planet Earth Live a boost, not sure about New Moon, I imagine the new series of Lewis will be trailed nicely throughout tonight's repeat episode.

Changes are already being made to The Voice's format internationally, and I suspect the BBC will do this as well next year:
Quote:
“NBC’s ‘The Voice’ To Bring Spinning Chairs Into Battle Rounds

The ratings for NBC’s The Voice have been front-loaded, starting big for the blind auditions featuring the spinning chairs and then falling off in the battle rounds. NBC brass are looking to stem the declines by extending the presence of the show’s signature feature. “People love the spinning chairs, and we will put them into the battle rounds this coming season,” NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt said during a conference call today. He wouldn’t elaborate on specifics but noted that the tweaks will make The Voice “even better and more competitive.””

Yeah I saw that. Hopefully it won't be the last one as from the (admittedly few) episodes I've seen it's still a good show and rates well. I doubt ITV will want it to end, although at least they' have Endeavour as a successor to it now.

Speaking of Endeavour, it says in the Radio Times that it'll be back later this year. It's got 4 episodes but looking at the amount of drama ITV have lined up for the Autumn it'll be a tight squeeze to get it all in - maybe Endeavour will air over Christmas or be saved until early next year.

How does everyone think the Death in Paradise repeat will rate tonight? Could it do a New Tricks and have a decent repeat rating of 3.5m+? I think it has great repeat potential personally. It has some excellent scenery, great humour balanced nicely with some light drama.

I think the Radio Times are wrong as production for Endeavour begins in late-summer and it will take four months to film the series. I expect it'll air in Q1 next year.

It's an obvious change but aren't the live shows an even bigger issue than the battle rounds?

But in the UK the battle rounds weren't a problem. They delivered in the ratings. It's the live shows that are the disaster.
