It is worth a chuckle.
Adele's a good booking though. I still think they should have splashed the cash and got her as a coach. |

Ironic, isn't it. I would have to agree but you know if she was to perform ratings could improve, as she would bring the x factor fan base with her

What Australia Watched: Monday 7th May

With the live shows still to come, will the UK pattern repeat itself? Nine firmly in change of proceedings then, with a very comfortable win. MasterChef hasn't lifted Ten's fortunes much at all so far, which must be a concern for them as it's normally their biggest show. Poor for Home & Away too, barely outrating the factual filler that followed as Seven tried a spot of bullet dodging. |

I can't believe people are suprised about the ratings drop on The Voice. It had the same drop in every single country it aired. From germany, portugal, denmark, holland tot the usa. The Voice is a an hit because it brings something new to talentshow genre, which has been the same for over 7 years. These new things in the format are just the first two rounds. After the battles people are dissapointed by the overlap with x-factor.
But I must say the UK coaches are the worst I have seen so far. There must be at least one funny coach out of the four. Will.I.Am comes close but can't get more than funny ghetto talk. There must be someone with credibilty for German version that is Nena for the Austalian one that is your fellow Brit Seal. Tom Jones could be that person but he never goes in to detail and keeps it with the oneliners. Jessie J. is worst of the bunch by never saying something interesting or surprising. Danny is an OK coach but does to much overacting by constantly standing up and laughing at fellow coaches. The presentars are ok but here in Holland they vary in presenting which works better. As I have said before John de Mol (the creator of the voice) is working on a 'Twist' some sort of changes for the liveshows so it can be applied on al the Voices around the world. Let's hope it's gonna be good because The Voice currently the only reality tv-show where the ratings are dropping towards the climax. Sorry for my English, I'm Dutch. |

So here may (or may not) be interested to know that NBC have started a raft of early pick-up announcements for next seasons as they attempt to get new shows on the air in time for Olympics over the summer. Picked up to series so far are three new comedies and two new dramas
Go On – Comedy starring Matthew Perry and created by former Friends writer Scott Silveri about a grieving sports caster and his mandatory therapy sessions. Save Me – Aspirational comedy starring Anne Heche has a formally downtrodden woman in a broken marriage who, after an accident, becomes the best version of herself and begins to believe she's channelling God. [This was originally in development at Showtime] The New Normal – Comedy from Glee's Ryan Murphy about a gay couple and the woman having their baby. Revolution – High concept drama about the survivors of a world where all forms of power have mysteriously disappeared. Created by Supernatural's Eric Kripke and produced by JJ Abrams Hannibal – Drama from Bryan Fuller about the early days of Hannibal Lector as he works as a profiler alongside FBI agent Will Graham. Very loosely based on Red Dragon. I suspect we'll see Revolution and possibly Hannibal land somewhere in the UK. Comedies are harder to tell by Go On looks like somebody would take a punt on it. Revolution would be my bet. Has anything seriously high concept succeeded on US network TV since Lost? Life on Mars, FlashForward, Terra Nova, Alcatraz, Awake - all hyped, all dead within a season. There's Fringe, I suppose, though that seems to have spent it's whole life on the edge too.More seriously, can't be a bad idea for NBC to try and get the jump on the season starting, especially when they can use such a powerful promotional platform. It'll be interesting to see how the rest of the networks decide to try launching their shows, too. IIRC, ABC had a bit of success last year by staggering their launches a bit. Threw everything they had behind Revenge and Pan Am in premiere week, then waited till the commotion subsided before hitting very successfully with Once Upon A Time in October. I guess they'll try that again. |

Just been reading posts about the possibility of a The Voice/Doctor Who pairing, which I think would be a very good idea. You only have to look at Youtube clips of Doctor Who, or search for it on Twitter, to see that there is a very big teenage following for Doctor Who, who are exactly who The Voice wants to pull in.
But there's also the question of what to lead into Doctor Who. There's a big opportunity there and the BBC either completely ignores it and sticks Total Wipeout on or completely misfires by about a hundred miles with the likes of Don't Scare The Hare. But by turning once again to The Voice, I'm starting to think BBC One has no concept of lead-ins. They're putting new celebrity editions of a current and very popular game show (Pointless Celebrities) on before repeats of an axed and unloved sitcom (My Family). It's literally a no-brainer to switch them around, but they haven't. |

Oh, and I can't imagine Adele's management would want her doing The Voice as a coach. The thing about Adele is that as a person, she's still sort of maintaining a mystique and aura of excitement - her music may be overplayed to the extreme, but her appearances on TV are always the TV events of the week. Her appearances on Graham Norton, the Brit Awards 2012 and Jonathan Ross were heavily hyped and the rarity of her public appearances guarantees big attention for the shows she does appear on and for Adele herself - it's mutually beneficial. Jessie J's "people" could learn a thing or two from Adele's.
I wonder if ITV have considered doing an Adele documentary, like they did with Susan Boyle? It may be a bit too late to the party now and the BBC might have the rights as they broadcast a live show of hers recently, but it's a good bet for a weeknight, which needs something, anything, other than the soaps. |

It'll be interesting what shows are picked up and which one are dropped, I've not been following as closely, one of the CSIs will be dropped, I'm hoping it's Miami rather than NY as that show hasn't been good for a while, I wonder if CBS will go ahead with expanding comedies on a Thursday, doing that will reduce the number of drama pickups.

Indeed, why would she even need ITV to do a documentary about her? She sells enough CDs without that kind of cheap publicity - and is, in any case, a rare example of an artist signed to a small record company who lets her do exactly what she wants.

Why on earth would Adele want to be a coach on a confused mess like The Voice? I doubt she needs the money (or the hassle). She certainly wouldn't benefit from the association.

Last night's main #bgt programme peaked at 12.3m (11.8m ex+1) and averaged a massive 9.8m (9.4m ex+1)
9.8m were watching #bgt results show on #itv as Jonathan and Charlotte and Kai and Natalia made it through to the final (9.4m ex +1) #itv dominated peak last night with an average of 7.1m (6.8m ex+1) almost double the audience of any other channel between 6pm and 10.30pm Source: Mike Large |

Very good peak for BGT, but a low-ish average in comparison. I assume BBC1 pulling EE forwards to 7:30pm dented the average a bit. It was always going to be down year-on-year last night - it'll be interesting to see where it goes over the next few nights.
Is that an average or a peak for the results show? If it's a peak then it's disappointing, but if it's an average then it did pretty well to match the performances given the late slot on a school night. |

Assuming the 20:00 hour for BGT averaged 11 million, then the first half an hour averaged 6.2m. So not a really surprising average.

And even the results was flat at 9.4m also - despite the Corrie lead-in and 2nd half of the SW repeat which must have bombed with about 2.5m tops. |

with Cowell back, the coldest and wettest Bank Holiday in years, colder and wetter than Christmas Day apparently,.
![]() Cowell was back last year, it wasnt colder than Christmas Day and why wasnt this a reason for The Voice doing better over the weekend (if it was true, etc, etc) I think you'd do well though. Have you any other talents or an assistant - maybe Glenn could do a 1970's medley with you?

9.4m is not bad rating for any programme in 2012, however it faces The Apprentice on Wednesday, will it be nearer 8.5m come Thursday morning. So with a BBC1 average of 3.5m, it looks like EE c.5m, AR about 4m and SW around 2.5m all are my estimates!!
