If you believe that Danny Cohen deserves articles like that to be wrote about him because they called The Voice the number one show on TV then you need to get a grip.

It's also funny how you call people precious and defensive when you aren't seen round here for days after ITV takes a pummeling.

Doesn't matter how many number ones or records she sells, the fact she's bisexual will always come first in judging her when it comes to the Daily Mail and it's readers.

The DM piece on Cohen is nowhere near as bad as the pieces Lorraine Heggessy got in the job and Jay Hunt got worse abuse too. I seem to remember her being called a ‘shameless thin lipped dumber downer’.
It goes with the job and I doubt anyone at the Beeb is giving it a second thought.

Big Brother launch date - Thursday 7th June, 21:00 to 23:00

Also, for next week, Corrie is down as:

- Sunday 3rd June, 20:30
- Monday 4th June, 19:30
- Monday 4th June, 20:30
- Wednesday 6th June, 19:30
- Thursday 7th June, 20:30

So EastEnders may be moved on the Wednesday to elsewhere.

I did wonder if Danny's surname, and presumed religious background, played a part in the Mail's unwarranted tirade of lies...

Anyone know what the weather was like back in 2002?”

Yes, I do as I had quite a big weekend of outdoor activities that year. We had a week or two of nice settled weather beforehand, increasingly hot, but it broke during the course of the weekend. I remember watching England's opening World Cup 2002 game on the Sunday morning (11am kick off) having gone to the pub in shorts and a t-shirt and left to a cool and damp afternoon. Then it rained most of Monday, reaching London I think later in the evening as the Party at the Palace concluded (did that help the big ratings I wonder?).

Tuesday was better and warmer though for the celebrations in the Mall, and that pulled in stellar all-day numbers.

The England game, btw, averaged about 10m on ITV on the Sunday morning.

EDIT: Found this via Google, from The Independent, re the Jubilee 2002 weather:

Quote:
“The prospect of a rare sunny weekend and England's opening World Cup match on Sunday were expected to increase the rush for the roads.

This is forecast to be one of the hottest weekends of the year so far, with yesterday's sunshine predicted to continue until Sunday evening and temperatures reaching 24C (75F).

But the two public holidays are likely to see a return of the thundery showers that were a feature of May. Temperatures on Tuesday were considered unlikely to reach 20C.”

Interesting Channel 5 scheduling. They kept very quiet about launching BB that week as it wasn't even in the press pack they issued on Friday. But the amount of TBA's in the schedule did suggest something wasn't quite right.

Tuesday 5th looks like a reasonably good date to launch. Also Kitchen Wars has the best possible chance of success on the Thursday night in between Cowboy Builders and Big Brother. That Friday schedule looks weird though - two hours of NCIS and then BB Eviction at 10?

I think BB's ratings will be the news story for C5 over the summer.its been confimed the live coverage is back on 5* after the evictions this was basically after suggestions from Daily star reporters that if ratings were good (which they were) extra coverage would follow for the 2012 season, that isnt going to happen.Last year many gave C5 a chance because of this

Yes it's skew always surprises me, iirc Watchdog has a similarly surprisingly young skew. Who knew Anne Robinson was such a hit with 16-34s!

I'm gutted Kitchen Wars is being presented by MPW, just my type of show, but he is rotten, cannot take to him at all.

Certain tweets trying to play that angle as well - Daisy Goodwin (self styled Head Girl of indie prod co Silver River) claims to be horrified by the anti-semitic undertone of the article. I can only presume that as far as she is concerned any criticism of someone who is Jewish automatically has an anti-semitic undertone.

The article is rather odd in some ways and likely plays loose with facts but that someone has written a negative article on a BBC1 Controller reeling from a high profile failure isn't exactly surprising. Particularly when he has a colourful reputation (deserved or not) and featured in a few press pieces already (the Cowell tweet, subsequent Cowell defection stories, potential "coach" firings and then the Jessie J dressing room story).

But everything in it has been documented before, including criticisms of BBC3 programming (something put at the door of Stuart Murphy and Julian Bellamy too). The only "exclusive" is the utterly bizzare account of his support of some unknown 80's band! I actually had to read that bit again, a real "huh?" moment. Presumably I was meant to read it and feel a great sense of anger and loathing towards him - were they a particularly bad band?

Did I introduce the Daily Mail article to the thread? As i said previously, I dont need to read the DM to form my opinion of The Voice's performance.

As for the rest of you, you claim to be outraged by the DM yet keep posting articles from it on DS. If you dont like it, dont read it and link to it. End of story. And stop all the mock outrage stuff.

I think the Daily Mail is the embarrassing uncle that some people have, you need to keep an eye on him as you know he is prone to racist/homophobic outbursts for attention. I am glad a lot of the comments below the article are pointing out the journalistic errors.

Maybe 3 x 9m+ ratings for BBC1?

BB launching on a Tuesday will benefit it as I doubt Martin Clunes on ITV on that day (flopzone) will even reach 2.5m. It's up against Silk, but it skews a completely different audience to BB.

I'm also intrigued by "self-confessed bisexual"

Is being bi something to "fess up" to?

I personally think it should be encouraged, amongst feisty female pop totty anyway...
