TV screen that goes Dark then Light advice please
I have a UMC 40in TV and have Sky HD via hdmi but for some reason when something changes on the screen its goes a little dark then back to normal and it keeps doing it.
Have to say it seems to do it more while watching football or cricket(Live sport). could this be my telly or is this normal with live sport? |

You've probably got the TV's energy saving mode switched on in your settings, as this causes the screen to go dark and light all the time.

If it's the UMC 40/58GF then according to some reviews it does have an Energy Saving/Eco mode.
I may pay to check the user manual and on-screen menus |

Have a look in the picture settings/screen settings menus and see if you have any digital enhancements enabled, anything that points towards contrast/brightness/black/white where the set makes auto adjustments, these should be switched off. Phillips used to have a feature called Black Stretch where it adjusted the black levels by constantly altering the contrast/brightness, the effect was just as you're describing. Unless the set is faulty I'm pretty sure something will be enabled which is making the picture go dark/light.

Yeah. My screen has Super Contrast which makes the screen change from dark to bright at random times.

Do sky-Hd boxes have the option to change the hdmi out options ?
If I set my Denon amp to output Enhanced mode with 0 being black and 255 white I get the varying problem most noticebally on scrolling white titles on a black background. Changing to normal (16 is black and 255 is zero) eliminates the problem. |
