And people are willing to upgrade, often at unaffordable prices, just so they can be seen to have everything current and trendy. Most folk are not able to fork out on such things and if purchasing a cheaper, but slower tablet is all they can afford, then that's good enough. Having a resistive "slow responding" screen or a capacitive "fast responding" screen is not going to be the difference between quality life or happiness to an unhappy life, but it is the difference between eating or starving. It's all about perspective and most people who have bought these cheap tablets seem, overall, pretty content with them.”

If you had used a capacitive screen you would understand - and you can get plenty of capacitive screen tablets for around £70 so not exactly a big jump...no idea why you have brought in eating and starving when talking about tablets...if you are buying a cheap tablet instead of food you have all your life wrong

That's not what I meant and I think you know that.

All I am saying is that for many people who work hard, and who want things like Tablets, PC's, decent mobiles etc., the price is usually the underlying factor. So, if you have never bought a tablet before, a £50 one with a slower screen response is probably going to suffice. It really would be idiotic to buy an expensive tablet above food and rent, but sadly for some people having the latest trend, to be seen with the latest supercool gadget, is more important to them than anything else. Also, as my post previously pointed out, the majority of people who bought these cheap tablets either from ebay or gumtree or elsewhere, are actually content and pleased with their purchase.

Why recommend people have something that will suffice when for around £20 they can get something that works so much better? If someone has not had something that is better then they will be please and content with their purchase but they can get something much better...and despite what a lot of people think usability does make a tablet so much better to use.

I'm not arguing that you can't buy better and if you can afford better then brilliant. But if you've never known any different or really genuinely only can afford £50, then the eBay tablets are perfect. I think it depends largely on what an individual considers as important. I have a pretty good laptop which does everything pretty much I need it to. The Tablet I use solely for when I go away to protect my laptop from damage etc. That's why it is perfectly adequate. However, if someone relies on their tablet for virtually all their computer needs, then yes, I recognise that a cheaper one wouldn't be good enough.
