Child acts and school
I can't understand why they have moved the live week away from half term. It seems ridiculous that the children - and there are masses of them - are performing during term time. I know that some GCSEs are taking place this week - are the producers taking this into account when timetabling the acts? Possibly that was why Only Boys Aloud were on Sunday.
The other problem with this is getting children watching at home to bed on school nights when the results are not broadcast until just before 10pm - much too late for many of the younger audience (but was fine in the past when it was on at half term). |

i think they have tutors to make sure they don't fall behind.
it is up to the parents to get their kids to bed. |

I wonder would a lot of the kids be at school during the day and go to the studios straight after school? Don't know what they'd do about homework though. I'm sure the school would be told about it beforehand. It's up to the parents to make sure they don't miss out on their education while they're in the show.

If my kid was in this or X-Factor then I wouldn't care about him/her having the whole week off. They don't miss much. In fact some take them out of school for weeks on end for foreign holidays. This is a chance in a lifetime. School can wait until next week!

I'm a teacher, but even I'd say who cares about school when you're in the BGT finals! To be serious, it is only one week out of a year of school. They must have tutors whilst there, and even if they didn't open a single book I'm sure they'd still catch up.
I teach plenty of children who miss a hell of lot more than five days in a year due to illness/taking the odd Monday or Friday off here and there/swanning off on holidays for a fortnight and they all (almost all!) manage to do so. |
