Ah, poor Iain.

Let's hope the LBC family will give him great comfort. R.I.P. Iain's mum.

Terrible news about Iain Dale's mum. I echo the words said by other posters.

Posting this to keep a record of it! Steve Allen, talking about the weather, has just said he loves the rain and can't get enough of it. In a few days he'll be moanng about it and saying how he can't wait for the sun. He does this all the time - is it on purpose or does he forget?

He was performing a public service this morning, repeating over and over that there was an orange alert. This I can understand as listeners are tuning in at different times during the morning, at least they've been warned.

It's probably amber, which is somewhere in between.

Morning all.

It is amber, then again it could be yellow, another CRAFT moment for Twinks.

She still crops up from time to time and I agree, she's a legend and whenever you hear her you know that you're going to be entertained. I hope to goodness that she hasn't been banned. I have no idea what she looks like but I have a vision in my mind, a vision of a mature new age hippie type person, still wearing the flowers in her hair that she wore in the late sixties/early seventies. I adore her.

Well, Naturally I echo all that has been said about the sad loss of Iain's Mum. What can anyone say. I had a bad day yesterday on a day that should have brought comfort(a memorial service where I lit a candle and Mum's name was read out)

I was affected all day.

The trouble is we all cope with grief in our own way and we don't know how we'll cope, hopefully Iain has some very good friends, family and a partner who can help him through this difficult time.

No, no, she'd be horrified to be associated with anything as radical as hippies! She wears a very clean beige Dannimac, sensible lace-up shows and a beret.

Thank You

I was told that a lot of people had left some very kind comments on here, so I thought I would just say thank you. Losing a parent is devastating, even when you've known for some weeks it will happen. LBC listeners have been fantastic in tweeting and emailing me their support, and it is comforting to know that I have been missed!

My mother was an avid LBC listener (even though she lived in North Essex). She didn't just listen to me, but right across the schedule. She particularly liked listening to James O'Brien - he reckons she liked listening to him more than her own son. I let him bask in that delusion . She was tickled when I told her that Nick Ferrari had sent her his love, and every day in hospital she would ask "Has Nick Ferrari sent me his love today?". I shall so miss ringing her after a programme and being told "I can't believe you said THAT on air!"

I hope to be back on the air later this week, but for definite on Sunday.

Thank you once again, and keep tuned to LBC 97.3!

Chris from CE is still around, she was on with AD last night, hence the post from JoLuc.

I don't know if this has been mentioned already - Ian Payne is in for James Whale and Ian Collins in for Iain Dale - all week.

If the LBC schedule is correct for a change.

SA has never relished hot weather....he doesn't mind rain - his collection of umbrellas, in all sizes, shapes & hues , is well documented. December, weather-wise & Christmas- wise, is his favourite month

J'OB debating the whys & wherefores of the socially inadequate............again.

Why are some presenters unable to distinguish the difference between the Social services & the DWP/Jobcentre !!

Happy Monday to All - even though it is pouring with rain

I thought about you yesterday, Gilders, I saw on your blog that you'd written about the service. They say that time's a big healer but that healing is only skin deep, I still mourn my father after decades, I've learned to live with it but I'll miss him until the day I die. You have friends on here, a good bunch of guys and gals, keep that pecker up. xx

Honestly? Is this the truth? !! Does she wear Eastex and Crimpolene, too?

Nah, seriously, she has such a wonderful opinion of what's right and what's wrong, she doesn't always get it right but if everyone showed such a good heart the world wouldn't be in the state that it's in. I raise my glass to Chris of Crouch End, a lady with exemplary morals.

My thoughts are with you, can't say much else because words are useless at this time. The only advice that I can give is to cry when you want to, talk about your mother when you want to, sod the British stiff upper lip load of nonsense. xx

Thinking of you Iain and emphesising all that you are feeling...I know how hard it is for all the reasons you give and your Mum is special and someone you have known all your life. In many ways we are fortunate they were around so long but perhaps that also makes it harder to accept, All we can do is take it one day at a time.

I cannot guess how easy it gets as time passes or how you look at things differently. Its new to all of us in a similar situation, even when ill they are still in the world, now we know they are not and its so different.

Take Care

Thanks Twinke It will always be just under the surface I am afraid. This is the horrible side of life and sadly as we become older we see it more often. Unless, it's our turn. In some ways its sad I haven't many relatives/friends but in another way I won't have to face the devistation of facing more heartache.

Some presenters divide listeners and others annoy but only a few manage in general to cause genuine affection and Iain is one such presenter even if you have different opinions and views he does listen and accept other views and gives equal time to everyone.
