Is there anywhere in the UK to buy an Ipad and pay in installments?

£720 for a piece of kit you could get for about £259 (£359 with 3G) direct from Apple (refurb. Nothing wrong with their refurbs, though)!

Mate of mine picked one up a couple of weeks back, just uses a £5 monthly data sim from Giffgaff which he's happy with. Over 24 months the total cost will come to £400. I got one and just use it over wifi.

£720 for the lowest spec iPad2 is bonkers. Your money though...
What you're saying isnt strictly correct. If I were to go on the data plan I wanted I would be paying £15 a month for the GB allowance I require. If you take that off the monthly total, it comes to £360 over 24 months (the cost of an ipad). Yes, I could go and buy an iPad for that money, but I would still pay the £15 for 3g a month and over 24 months still come to the same total. In the long term there is no difference. I also got a free Orange care plan thrown in too, so if I were to break it (hopefully I won't) then I get it replaced free of charge over the next 2 years.

All you're doing is paying for the iPad (worth £360) off over 24 months at £15 a month and then paying the £15 for the 3G monthly data allowance over 2 years (£360) equalling £720.

In the end as I say, over 24 months, the total is the same.

That's fine, assuming you need a data plan. I use a WiFi iPad and have never needed 3G.

If you have a mobile phone that does tethering you can use that data plan so you're not paying twice.

I personally just use a WiFi iPad and tether to my phone at times when I need 3G and not near WiFi. It's far easier in my case as I don't need 3G very often and prefer just having the one bill. However if the OP needs that much 3G data then fair enough.
