iPad and iOS 5.1.1 - wifi issues
Barry59
09-05-2012
My ipad updated yesterday, to iOS version 5.1.1. Since then it keeps losing its wifi connection, as in completely dropping it.

Anyone else have this? My wife's iPad seems to be ok, but mine is definitely not!

Both are iPad 2 models.

Back it up and do a factory reset and see if that solves your problem. Also try restarting your wireless router and turn the Wifi off and on, on your Ipad and see if that solves the problem.

Hope that may help.

Thanks for the reply.

After multiple reboots, of iPads and router, this seems to have rectified itself. I'm not sure what the issue was exactly (and looking at the support forums quite a few people have experienced this) but it seems to be related to the update method. All sorted now though (touch wood!).

I obviously touched fake wood. Wifi is all over the place with both iPads. Lots more users logging the same issue so hopefully it'll be fixed soon... Whatever it is!

With mine the WiFi isn't dropping but is showing as very weak. I have to lift the ipad over my head to get full strength

I think there is an issue with the new iPad dropping its wifi

Yes I experienced the same with the New iPad that I've got, completely dropping wi-fi. I found it was something to do with the wi-fi channels on the router. I tried every one and finally settled on channel 5 which gives me a stable, fast connection.

But my iPad has now developed a new problem, iTunes on the device is ridiculously slow and freezes for minutes at a time. I've done a full reset which temporarily cures it but it is really annoying me.
