*sniggers* I can't believe people still use Internet Explorer!

I'm on Safari and I haven't had any problems. Earlier I only got some message about maintenance.

Hi all,

It seems like there is possibly an issue with users logging in through Internet Explorer. We're looking into it.

Thanks for all the feedback so far!

I can no longer login on my phone either as it doesn't cope with the popup for the login details.

I hate ie even 9 i find it really clumsy and overfull i like the cleaner more streamlined chrome
Amen to that, theres now way Id go back IE now. Apart from remembering about dashes and dots in my username, had an easy time sliding in. And while this aint the place, I have to say I hate on IE when you right click on a link, on the top of the list, its Open, then Open in new tab! If I wanted to bloody open it, I would just left click it! But this might annoy me more then others, as I use tabs alot, keep things open and whatnot. But its just a basic thing, that I cant stand.

i use older firefox and had problems !

easiest to disable javascript then open login in new window or tab. the popoup box just hangs.

i cant see what what advantage accrues from secure login, and the website admin did not test thoroughly enough.

i hoped the revamp would solve some site problems but apparently not. still occasional page hangs and resets .....

...... logging in on kindle - which does not have multiple browser pages - is now tricky !

Nothing here!

However it looks like facebook integration has been added as an option to log in for new users
That is the difference i just found and had to redo my lastpast profile for digital spy. They should leave things alone.

i like Facebook for what i use it for, but I don't want to integrate it with every bloody website I go to.

For goodness sake./

They probably didn't realise that there were people in the world who still used the prehistoric IE.

You can now comment using your DS username!
That is a better idea, i don't really want everyone who read my comments to know what my facebook name is.

They seriously need to fix that problem.
I can't login with IE9 too.

Don't they check if it works first?
Maybe they are trying to get rid of IE users or they think that you should use a decent browser

Agreed. It was totally intrusive and seemed to attract attention-seekers.

Could not log in at all, downloaded Firefox and it works fine...
Oooo! Firefox has spell checker! Awesome! No more taking the piss out of peoples spelling and making a spelling mistake while doing it. Go me.

Just a little question, what browser did you use before you got firefox? Didnt realise that any modern-ish browsers didnt have a spell check... colour me curious

I use both Firefox and Chrome (both always open, it depends what I'm using the browser for). I've had no problems at all.

I like the idea of being able to comment on articles with our username, but does it work the other way too?

I switched to Firefox a week or two ago and I was surprised by the spellchecker too!

Do you mean users who comment on articles can then come to the forums? If so, yes. Previously users needed one log in (Facebook) to comment on articles and one for the forums. This way you only need one (and you don't need a Facebook profile to do either - the option is just there for familiarity for those that wish to continue using their FB).

Also the issue with Internet Explorer should now be resolved. For those that used it before and switched to a new browser temporarily, could you try now and let us know how it goes?

I don't get why people like to "slay" IE.
It's decent for the daily use and the normal user and it's being updated frequently.

Putting down IE is only a trend to sound like a specialist.
IE is still being used by most people, so you can't just ignore it.

EDIT: FOR ME IT'S STILL NOT WORKING

Andy ~ I got this e mail message from DS Forum Support earlier:-

Hi,

We recently made a change to the way in which users can comment on Digital Spy and as a result you appear to have been logged out. It's likely that you're now trying to log in with an incorrect password.

A password reminder has been sent to your registered email address.
I think whoever has replied, has got the wrong end of the stick. I didn't present an incorrect password when logging in through IE. It's the same one I always use and have used every day for many years. I'm unlikely to have suddenly got it wrong co-incident with these changes.

edit: OK I've just switched back to IE from firefox and logged in OK this time. Accepted my old password immediately
