Not defending them but it is just an EP for starters and Jessie J #11 disappeared

the US are willing to give singles but only a handful of British people have album success:

Adele
One Direction
Mumford And Sons
Florence and The Machine
Coldplay

So all in all no surprise there and if they will act like tools to be expected.

It's ironic because 2 years ago we would have called this a success in America but I guess after One Direction it is indeed a flop and I can't say I am sad about it after all their sniping at others including One Direction.

They and their management stated that one direction were more for the tweenie crowd and more tv orientated where as they were all about the music. I wonder if they are still saying that now

I'm not 14, I am not outraged nor irrational I disagree. One Direction are a boyband and do exactly what boybands are supposed to do. Look nice and sing catchy pop tunes with a good hook and they all have a pleasant personalities and look like pop stars. If posters think they are shit then that is fine. Music and bands/artists are subjective

Pleasent personalities they are always bitching about someone bigger and more successful than them I agree they have had some catchy tunes but their attitude of late may well have been ther downfall.

I think s/he was talking about One Direction... unless i'm mistaken. The Wanted were the ones going about the industry hitting out at anyone that is more successful than them.

And no amount of popularity, sales or chart success anywhere in the world will change that.

Thanks to Justin Bieber's manager coaxing every TV show in the US into having them as guests. Justin is a big pull for any show so they'll have anyone on to keep his manager happy. They had a few radio deals in place too.

It just goes to show that pulling strings on TV and radio can do wonders for catchy songs but not so much for albums.

From what i understand the album was in fact a taster EP. Following thr success of 1D, TW's record company saw a possible chance at sucess and put together an ep instead of a full blown album and campaign, i think they're planning on releasing a full album this year.
That said they are a terrible group.

No, they actually signed to their US record label in 2010 and signed their management deal with Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, last year. They were always going to go over there after launching their second album here. One Direction turned up after them. They labelled it as an EP because if it flopped they could say 'well it was only an EP to make a start over there'. The EP is essentially a full album anyway. 7 tracks on the standard edition, 11 on the special edition.

Their label are hoping to work a bit like a pop factory. Once The Wanted were established in the UK, they moved them onto international markets and launched Cover Drive here. Now that Cover Drive have had few singles and an album out, they're launching Lawson. They're all backed by Capital FM and do well singles wise. Whether they'll all sell albums remains to be seen.
