i learned how to play it following some tutorials on youtube.
http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list...9&feature=plcp by a chap called Paul Soares jr. they're pretty good. it starts with surviving your first night and makes sensible progress from there. you need some kind of reference because it's just not possible to guess at how it works. the wiki is great but you don't know what it is you don't know. re the graphics. there are some amazing mods for the pc version. that anisotropic filtering, realistic breezes and shadows. http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/...-shadows-more/ they do look great but after 5 minutes of going wow. still the same game. |

Very much hooked on this game and I knew I would be thats why i stayed away from the PC version!
The drop in drop out with friends is awesome and honestly the graphics have a real charm about them .... oh and nothing will prepare you for the hilarity of your friend greeting you in world dressed like Bjorn Borg!! |

Any tips for a Minecraft virgin? Just about to start my first game after the tutorial, Do I make it invite only or what? Will randoms be able to join my game if its not invite only? Can they smash it up?

The only random I had was a friend of a friend who popped in off his profile otherwise it's try it and see.
As for tips ... first thing is first build a place to stay with a bed so you can sleep during the hard, zombie ridden nights. Equip it with a crafting table, furnace and storage box. Build it big enough so it can perhaps house a mine as well .... then just play the game, do what you want ...it really is one of those games

I imagine if you've a lot of spare time and a vivid imagination you could probably create anything. The guy in that tutorial almost had a sort of kid building a den in his garden tone to his voice. Obviously he is a grown adult but he sounded like a kid with his den. I liked that.

We ended up getting the pig fenced in and then we took turns while we dug the ground out from under the pig forcing it to fall. Just having problems with the wolf one now. Iv'e only ever seen two wolves and both times i didn't have any bones on me.

There are no abandoned mineshafts or NPC villages in the xbox version yet. Hopefully they'll be in an update soon. https://twitter.com/#!/jeb_/status/202423318027046912 |

Played this all day yesterday, after about an hour of play my other half joined in my game as a guest. We played for at least 5 hours when we finished we saved and exited. Loaded up this morning and it never saved anything since she joined!! Even though it was auto saving and I 100% saved and exited!! Disaster.

Did it again, decided to save it once every hour or so, the last time it got stuck on exiting game. I gave it 10 mins or so restarted and loaded up and it was my previous save. Sadly I think im done with this until they fix it.

Beats mindlessly shooting each other on the flavour-of-the-month FPS.

You can sometimes find coal just under the first layer or even on sitting on top. Just keep digging, within 30 mins you should have plenty. I find Iron harder to find. |

My favourite commentator (MisterFantasmo) did an awesome serious with his friend KidLazer which is hilarious. It's call 2 Craft Boys. I love it, I rewatch it all the time.
