Just to complicate matters I know a politically correct gay guy who finds DW's "oooh look at me I'm a little bit gay, oooh aren't I camp, ooooh my Simon, blah blah" routine extremely homophobic. Over-reaction in my opinion but I see where he's coming from.

I don't thinks gay I just think he's very much comfortable with his sexuality and likes winding people up, and anything that makes Mr Cowell uneasy gets my vote!

My belief is he is straight. It would make no sense if he was gay.

1. He has no reason to lie about it.
2. He plays up to it anyway, which isn't the hallmark of someone trying to hide it.

That was exactly the point i made in my earlier (ignored) post on this thread. I can see why some gay people would find it vaguely insulting -" ooh look I am acting all camp and pretending I fancy Simon, isn't that amusing?".

I'm bi and find it hilarious

If Simon were slightly mixed-race or one-sixteenth Jewish and David kept doing a monotonous caricatured impression of a black man or a Jew over and over again, I'd imagine there would be a bit of a hoo-hah.

Simon's grandparents were Jewish

My guess would be that people watching a recording of David's current "faux gay baiting" act in twenty years time would react in much the same way as most people nowadays would when they see a clip of "Love Thy Neighbour" - the ancient racist sitcom.

I think people like the OP who make an issue out of him being gay or straight WANT him to come out and say he's gay just so they've something to gossip about.

There was a thread about Simon Cowell might be gay. I don't understand why some people have this need to make issues about whether someone's gay or not. Does anyone really give a monkeys.

Wasn't Walliam's in the womanizing club with Russel Brand, "Bepe" and Dean Gaffney?

I think that someone who is secure and confident in their sexuality can pretend to be gay or bi. They don't care if anyone else thinks they are gay because they know that they are not.

If someone was confused about their sexuality, they probably wouldn't pretend to be something else.

its like saying that Sacha Baron Cohen pretends to be a North African dictator quite a lot of the time but I'm sure that his wife knows that he is not.

When little Britain first started and I read that one of them was gay, I assumed it was Walliams, I was suprised it was the other one.

I'm gay and don't find it homophobic in the slightest. Remember his comedy partner Matt Lucas is openly gay so I doubt David would intentionally do anything that could be considered offensive to gay people.

People are constantly speculating about David's sexuality, so he plays up to it by acting like the most OTT, stereotypical gay guy you could find. That's all.

I'm a gay guy (not of the Showbears variety), but I find David's act funny. I think it's clear he knows not all gay guys are like that, it's just the easiest way to play up to the rumours.

As already mentioned, David's ex comedy partner, Matt Lucas, is gay. David's the last person who'd be a homophobe.

What you've said there is what I've always thought too. I don't know why he doesn't get dogs rather than women as he seems to love dogs more. Then again, I suppose his travelling around, he thinks wouldn't be fair on them though I'm sure they'd be looked after. He wouldn't be here without his Mum, to make such a wondeful person which is what he thinks he is, and women just get in the way. I actually like the guy though having said all that.

I can only speak for myself but I find it cringeworthy . A straight man acting like a gay man to "out" another straight man ! I can't see the point and it's not even amusing .

Not to you, but many people do find him amusing and that's how he makes a living...

yeah it is a strange one this, seems so obsessed with talking and joking about being gay, weather he is or not I haven't a clue but if I was his wife I'd maybe say please don't do it all the time Davie, it would annoy me if I was her.

He may not be gay but his eyes are bi.
One goes this way and the other goes that way.
What's going on with his face. I had to turn off.
