Facebook optional charge?

They are trialling a system in some countries where you can pay $2 to highlight one of your posts.

What do you think?

I personally think the option to highlight a post could be helpful in certain circumstances, but paying for it? I doubt I would.

I doubt individuals would want to pay but companies or people with an event to promote I would imagine would be interested.

Seems to me like they are just finding ways of making even more money for the sake of making money. There just isn't the need for this.... and I can't wait till some 8 year old using her Paypal account (by unreliable parents) spending hundreds/thousands of dollars (somehow...) on Facebook, lending to the predictable law suit.

Seriously, they're about to float at $9.5 billion and they want even more? GREED. Pure greed. This is what has fcuked up the World economy. Will these people ever learn? The bigger they are, the harder they fall.

If joe public was "forced" into paying, hundreds of millions would abandon ship quicker than a local sea rat and Facebook would fade away like Bebo.

You already have to pay for those virtual gift thingies don't you ? No different to that I would have thought. Just another App. Not like it's compulsory.

My opinion.....

They are floating at just the right time (for them) as they know they are starting to ride a new tech bubble and there is only one way it can go. Same with paying billions for that photo app and stuff like that.

There have been a few announcements recently that make FB sound more and more like Ryanair, to my mind. Sure, they need to make their money somehow, and there will be some short term gains to be made, but if buying FB shares then watch the market like a hawk. First sign of trouble, get out....
