I think your use of the term "CDs" is a bit confusing?

Are these physical CDs that you have ripped to a computer, then put on your iPad? Or do you mean albums that you have bought on iTunes and downloaded to the iPad, and are now trying to transfer to your laptop?

If they are paid for downloads then they will contain digital Rights Management licenses (DRMs), and that might be causing problems with you playing them on iTunes on the laptop? Although it would be unlikely to affect some tracks on an album and not others?

Music from the iTunes store has been DRM free for over 3 years now.

Right click on the iPad on the left pane in iTunes and choose transfer purchases.

In the preferences in iTunes there is also an option to automatically download purchases you make on other devices without having to sync them.

Well that surprises me.
Mind you, it's probably more than 3 years since I last used iTunes.

Not sure why you're surprised. It was quite big news at the time because the record companies really fought against it and Steve Jobs pretty much forced their hand.

It's definitely made it easier to transfer your music to other devices. Some people who have iTunes on a Mac or PC and like the convenience of the music store don't necessarily want an Apple MP3 player or iPhone, but this enabled Apple to continue selling music to those users. Of course there are plenty of other DRM free music stores out there now (e.g. Amazon MP3), but not all of them are available in the majority of countries around the world, which is probably where iTunes has some advantage in those places.

Yeah thankfully the battle to remove DRM from music has been won. Next challenge is removing it from movies, TV shows and everything else.

It's news that had passed me by. Probably because I'd turned my back on itunes, and any-one else selling music with DRMs, and moved onto other stores like Amazon and Play etc.

I'd heard that itunes had offered DRM free MP3s as a higher cost option, but not that everything was now DRM free.
That's good news, but probably too late for me to return to them, as I'm happy elsewhere.

However, as far as the OP is concerned.
I'd seen that they had a thread about this in the computer section, but hadn't got the help they wanted, and had made a thread on here that seemed to be being ignored, so I thought I'd reply to get the OP to clarify their problem, rather than to display my out-of-date knowledge of itunes.

So we still haven't really helped the OP, unless Roush's solution worked?
