I know so many women who are reading this.
I've read some excerpts online and I cringed so hard I couldn't face it. If women want to read erotic fiction, I'm almost positive there must be better examples of it out there that isn't a half-arsed, lame Twilight fan fiction. Even the women I know who are reading it acknowledge how bad it is, and exceptionally repetitive. |

are the sex scenes really that racy?
Ive read a few blogs about the cringy couple but no bedroom action and the female character sounds like a 15 year old girl so i cant really imagine the sex being that explicit. |

I would never have chosen to read it but a girl at work went on and on about how much I'd love it and plonked it in the middle of my desk when she'd finished. Since then, she's asked me almost daily if I've read it yert so I gave in for a quiet life. Now, I'm no stranger to a bit of pap fiction but this take the cake for being lame. |

I read the first book in 4 days. I loved it! On the plane home from hol, I saw three other women reading it too. I found it addictive, its easy reading, and in parts, a love story. Some of the S & M stuff I skipped through because it got a bit repetitive and a bit uncomfortable. I've just bought the second and third books today. Can't wait!

I am on the last book & have found the second book better than the first & the third book even better. I would actually like to read a book written for Christian Grey without most of the sex. I find his story facinating & would like to read it from he's perspective & about he's childhood & life.

Me too. I hope she writes a book from Christian's point of view. I think it would be really interesting.

I've given in to the hype and bought this. On chapter two and so far finding it tedious and boring.

Can I just make an observation. I have a lot of friends & family that have had a go at reading this book some of which never read anything. If it encourages people to read & maybe move on to better books then I think the author has achieved something at least.

Totally agree with you especially the marmite comment. I was with a group of friends recently, about 7 women, and we had all read it but opinion was very divided. Some of us it had totally absorbed us and others just didn't get it at all. I personally love it and will probably re read again too.

So I read the first book and really enjoyed it, reading the second and I'm getting so bored of the repetative sex scenes. It's getting old now and it's starting to ruin the story. All they ever seem to do is have sex, I'm suprised that they even enjoy it anymore, surely they would have become desensitised by now. They both need to check into sex addicts annoymous. Also another thing that is bugging me is the whole
Spoiler
I'll persevere with it but I wonder if it's worth finishing. |

If married women need to get their kicks from a book then their husbands should take a long look at themselves! I suspect most people are reading it because they have been handed a copy or just wanted to see what the fuss was about.

I've had enough. Its a load of tosh. I can't bring myself to read the third one. Read the first chapter and I thought I was going to be sick. The first one was ok, a bit novel and held some promise of a decent storyline, but then it developed into drivel and boring repetitive sex scenes. I don't even like Christian or Ana anymore so I won't put myself through torture to read anymore.what a waste of time and money. I could have been enjoying the latest Karin Slaughter book which has been waiting on my kindle since Wednesday

I've read Twilight and I think although Twilight is not a masterpiece, this rubbish doesn't even deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as the aforementioned saga.
Give me Bella and Edward anyday over the dispicable Ana and Christian. As I've read it was originally a twilight fan fiction I saw the following (Poor) rip-offs: Ana (Bella Chrisitan (Edward) Mia (Alice) The Greys are the Cullens Jose (Jacob) The guy from her workplace (Hardware store) he fancied her was Mike Then of course Ana's parents were Charlie and Rene Elliot resembled Emmett a bit and maybe Kate was supossed to be Rosalie???
Spoiler
Any others??? |

IMO it's perverted garbage - and it seems fairly eminent that the 'author' has some personal demons she is exorcising through writing. But what disturbs me more about the whole 'phenomenon' is what a scary demonstration it is of 'sheeple' power in action. Not to mention that if a man had written it, there would be howling and baying demanding that it be banned and he locked up for the safety of wimmin. |
