Living in the country as I do, I have to put up with a 1Mbps internet connection so the choice is made easy for me in that Lovefilm stipulate a minimum of 2 Mbps where as Netflix 0.5.

I haven't tried it yet though...

I was with Netflix for over 3 months and I did really enjoy the service, mainly as it introduced me to Heroes. On the movie side of things, I wasn't too impressed and found that the selection they did offer did not include many recent films and updates were not too frequent.

This month I bought a Samsung Smart TV and noticed that a Lovefilm app was available. I decided to try out the 30 day free trial and I have to say I am very impressed with the selection. Yes the library isn't as big as Netflix but not by a long mile and the selection of films was also a lot better, with many releases from the past year that I have been keen to watch.

Was also happy with the selection of TV, especially Series 1-7 of Only Fools & Horses which Netflix doesn't have.

I haven't tried changing the regions of Netflix, mainly as I do not have a PS3 or Xbox to change the DNS. But right now I am very happy with Lovefilm Instant.

You don't need a PS3 or Xbox. What was you using for Netflix before?

I was using a Roku LT for Netflix. I tried searching for an option to change the DNS but couldn't find it anywhere. I did contact Roku and they said it was not possible to change the DNS settings on the Roku itself and could only do it through the router. This was off putting to me as I did not want to change the DNS for all devices connected to the network.

TalkTalk have just announced that HD streaming is shortly to be available on Love Film Instant, which they include in their TalkTalk Player on YouView. Since acquiring YouView, I have watched only two films on Love Film Instant. The first was 'Sherlock Holmes Game of Shadows' and the second 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower'. Picture quality on 'Sherlock Holmes' was actually very good, considering that it was standard definition. 'Perks' picture quality wasn't as good, but this might be reflected in the films' respective budgets. Big budget movies can spend a lot of cash on polishing their image quality. With low budget movies, however, it is more a case of getting what you are given. Having written that, the picture quality wasn't bad at all, just not as good as 'Sherlock Holmes'.
